JANICE LOUISE FRIESEN (nee SNYDER) 1957 - 2014 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Janice Louise Friesen at the Grace Hospital on December 6, 2014 at age 56 with her husband Gary by her side. Janice leaves to celebrate her life and memory, her loving and devoted husband Gary, with whom she would have celebrated 39 years together this February. She also leaves her stepfather Allan Jones, her sister Darlene (Lloyd Penner) of Morris, as well as many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and in-laws. She was predeceased by her parents, father John Snyder (1999) and her mother Aneta Jones (2012) and by three sisters, Lisa Kostiw in Mississauga, Ontario in 1999, Jennifer Friesen of Morris in 2001 and Shelly Padgett of Mountain View, CA in 2012. Janice was born in Morris, Manitoba, the second of five girls. She had a real passion for life but unfortunately she was stricken with multiple sclerosis in 1985, which would confine her to a wheelchair and change her life forever. However she always maintained a positive attitude and although the MS slowed her down, it never dampened her determination and enthusiasm. She loved many crafts but especially knitting and sewing until her MS made those crafts difficult. She then discovered genealogy and put all of her passion into tracing both her father's and her mother's sides of the family. This search gave her countless hours of both pleasure and frustration, always trying to find that one missing shipping record. Her strong faith in God helped her make it through the constant pain and trials in her life and when she received the diagnosis of stage 4 pancreatic cancer on November 24, she was not afraid of dying and looked forward to her death with calm assurance knowing that heaven awaited her. Her husband would like to thank the wonderful staff at Grace Hospital 3rd Floor North Wing for the compassionate and loving care they provided for Janice during her short stay there. Public viewing will be held at Chapel Lawn on Wednesday, December 10 from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. A celebration of Janice's life will be held at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue on Thursday, December 11, 2014 at 10:00 a.m., with viewing prior to the service. A private interment will take place at a future date. Flowers gratefully declined, donations in Janice's memory may be made to her favourite charity, Samaritan's Purse International Relief, 20 Hopewell Way NE, Calgary, AB T3J 5H5 or a charity of your choice. And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes: there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away. - Revelation 21:4 www.chapellawn.ca 885-9715
