JENNIE RESTALL With much love and sorrow we announce the peaceful passing of Jennie Restall on Friday, December 5, 2014 at the age of 88. She is survived by her loving husband of 62 years William (Bill); son Brad (Roberta), daughter Gayle (Louis Conan); grandchildren Jessica Pinder (Craig), Adam (Christine Donnelly), Mark, and Megan; great-grandchildren Robert and Luke. She was predeceased by her parents Lena and Sandy Husko and sister Ann Crull. Jennie was born in Winnipeg and lived here all her life. She married Bill in 1951 and raised their two children in North Kildonan. Once her children were in school she worked for many years as a very dedicated administrative and executive assistant for DeFehr Furniture, Reliance Products and Lawson Mardon until her retirement in 1991. After her retirement she and Bill travelled extensively to Thailand, Hong Kong, Venezuela, Costa Rica, Hawaii, Dominican Republic and Mexico. Later in their retirement they enjoyed winters in Florida and Victoria. Their second home was at the Gimli Trailer Park where she spent many happy days walking the beach, golfing, enjoying visits from family and having happy hour with her many friends. Jennie was very active in the North Kildonan United Church, being a life member of the United Church Women (UCW) and serving on the Board and numerous church committees. She delighted in many church activities including attending the annual Christmas Tea a few weeks ago. Jennie was active in the University of Winnipeg - Women's Auxillary for many years and served as president. She was an avid sports fan enjoying the Winnipeg Blue Bombers, Manitoba Moose, Toronto Blue Jays and Winnipeg Jets. She was also an avid card player. One of her greatest pleasures in later years was playing bridge on Tuesdays with a close group of her dearest friends. Jennie was devoted to her family and took joy and pride in their accomplishments and activities. She was thrilled with the arrival of her two great-grandchildren. She also held a special place in her heart for her friend Ruby (Bill) Milne, who predeceased her; she became a loving "Auntie Jennie" to Donna, Nancy, Sandra and their families. We are grateful for the care and support that Jennie received from the health system, home care, friends and neighbours. She will be dearly missed. At Jennie's request there will be no formal service. A celebration of her life will be held this coming summer. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to Winnipeg Harvest, the University of Winnipeg Foundation, or a charity of your choice.

  • I was saddened to hear of Jennie's passing. I worked with her over 40 years ago. Although we haven't kept in touch, I have thought of her often. I remember when our first son was born and since we didn't have any parents living in Winnipeg, she became our son's Grannie Jennie. She was such a sweet caring person, always had a smile and something nice to say for everyone. She was a very special person and will be missed. Heaven has definitely received a very special Angel.
