JOHN EDWARD JOSEPH PLAZA It is with great sadness that we announce, after a brief illness, the sudden passing of John Edward Joseph Plaza on December 5, 2014 at the age of 62. He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Sandi, sons Corey and Dylan, brother Peter and wife Debbie (Stacy), sister Irene and husband Daryl, brother Joe, father-in-law Dawson, sister-in-law Janet, and brother-in-law Craig (Cristina and Lisa). He was predeceased by his father Peter, mother Stefania, mother-in-law Yvonne, and niece Jacqueline. John was born in Winnipeg on February 17, 1952 and grew up in the North Kildonan area, moving with the family to Oakbank in 1993. He started working as a painter for the Winnipeg School Division in 1979 and retired in 2012 and was a very loyal employee, hardly missing a day for illness. John loved going to the Betula Lake campground for weekends, having a seasonal lot there for over 40 years. He also enjoyed spending time at the family cottage at Lake Of Two Mountains. John was a Mr. Fix-it and was able to repair, fix or build almost anything he put his mind to. He was also very knowledgeable in all things "satellite" and was the "go-to" guy for many. He loved being with friends and family and one of his favourite things was the holiday family gatherings at the "Plaza" home. A casual celebration of life luncheon will take place on Saturday, December 13, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. with a time of remembrance at 1:30 p.m. at Seasons Funeral Chapel, 576 Balsam, Oakbank. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Before The Bridge Senior K9 Rescue (Box 11, Stony Mountain, MB) or CancerCare Manitoba. Seasons Funeral Service, 204-444-5444, www.seasonsfunerals.ca

I am just so sorry to hear of John's passing. I also worked for Wpg. School Division and saw John several times while our school was being painted. Also ran into him at a Superstore more recently. I do remember our family get togethers when John's parents were alive. The Plazas, Ozimeks and Jemielity's. My deepest sympathies to the family. - Posted by: Jennie Gusberti née Jemielity (Friend) on: Dec 10, 2014
