Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryRONALD EDWARD SIMMONS 1930 - 2014 Ronald Edward Simmons, born December 7, 1930, passed away peacefully on December 8, 2014, at the Grace Hospital in Winnipeg. Ron was predeceased by his wife, Margaret; his grandson Jody Single; his parents Charles and Margaret Simmons; Mom's parents David and Marion Smith, and brothers Angus and Ian. Dad will be missed dearly by his five children: Robert (Sheila) and children Ryan, David and Dale (Audrey); Marion (Charlie) Single and children Tracy (Mark) Fiander, Bradley (Courtney) and Nancy (Corey) Morton; Heather (Peter) Guenard; Charlie (Debbie) and children Amanda and George; Maureen (Bruce) McFarlane and children Samantha, Lindsay (Ian), Shannon, Graham and Hugh, and 10 great-grandchildren. Also by sisters Carol (Al), Moira (Herb), Rozanne (Evelyn); sister-in-law Kay, nieces and nephews, friends and neighbours. Dad was raised on a farm in Morden, MB. Dad joined the Air Force for a couple of years, then met and married Mom. While Dad and Mom raised their children in Winnipeg, Dad worked for Metro Propane delivering propane to farmers north of Winnipeg. He then worked many years for the St. James School Division, eventually retiring from there and moving to Gunton, MB in 1987. He belonged to the A.N.A.F. #283, Millenium Lodge #182 and the Sons of Scotland. Dad was active in the community by taking part in the Teulon Agricultural Society and the Farmer's Market to name just a few. He also enjoyed going for coffee and playing cards with his friends. Dad never forgot his roots and was a farm boy at heart --- he loved to garden, mow his acres of grass, and he loved his trips to see Auntie Carol and Uncle Al in Colorado to tinker around with their many tractors and auction sale finds! Ron's family would like to thank everyone who has helped our dad in any way when he needed you. You know who you are and Dad appreciated each and every one of you. He was very proud of the sense of community in the area. DAD, we know you are now free of pain and with MOM, whom you missed so much. We love you DAD, GRANDPA (POPS), and GREAT-GRANDPA. As per Dad's request, there will be no funeral service, but there will be a time of remembrance for Ronald, his family, friends and neighbours at Gunton Greenwood Community Hall, Gunton, MB on Saturday, December 13, 2014 from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. MACKENZIE FUNERAL HOME STONEWALL, MB (204) 467-2525

He was truly a gentleman and someone you could always depend on. If there was an activity in town you could always count on his support even to the extent of attending the children's Hallowe'en party. We'll miss his smile and gentle ways. - Posted by: Noreen Stone (Friend) on: Dec 12, 2014
