Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJOHN (KEN) HODGE January 10, 1921- December 5, 2014 It's with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of John Kenneth Hodge on December 5, 2014 with his family by his side, at the age of 93 years. John was predeceased by his wife 68 years, Margaret, parents Stanley and Hannah, brothers Dave and Bryant, sister Florence Martin, daughter Sharon, and granddaughter Shawna. He will be sadly missed by his sons, Roland (Donnett), Arthur (Karen), Barry (Maureen), daughters, Linda Pelzer (Jack), and Karen MacDonald (Jack), nine grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. Ken was born January 10, 1921 and spent his early years in Lac du Bonnet and Pointe du Bois. He worked for Winnipeg Hydro, initially in Pointe du Bois and then transferring to Winnipeg in 1956, retiring in 1983. Ken was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was extremely knowledgeable and talented and he enjoyed sharing his skills with his family and friends. He enjoyed carpentry and welding projects out in his garage and the family have many of those projects still with them today. He enjoyed a good game of cribbage and taught many family members how to play. One of his other loves was the outdoors and he treasured the many years spent at the cottage with Mom and the family. The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to Jack MacDonald for the special care and understanding he extended to our Dad. You gifted us Dad with a lifetime of happy memories and we will all treasure them. You will be sadly missed but never forgotten. Respecting Ken's wishes cremation has taken place and a private family service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation. I remember Ken when his wife was still alive. I live on Mccalman the only reason I found out is I noticed the for sale sign. I figured it out. Ken would either be sitting outside in front yard or scooting in his electric chair. One of my visits when Mary were here both are sitting at kitchen table rolling smokes. Ken said I made these cupboards I'd been astonished at the craftsmanship. They had a bird and cat, Ken would say don't touch the cat he's mean. Ken you were a wonderful man. I also remember him saying longevity runs in the family never get old. R.I.P. you are now with your wife. I'm very much still in shock one of Ken's favorite things to do and nobody could disturb him is count the rail cars as the train went by. Jack McDonald took care of him most importantly kept him company had it not been for Jack living with him no comment. He had endless stories to say. My thoughts are with his family I've never met anybody. One more there was always bread at the side of house for birds to eat or, squirrel Jack would go outside with a huge jar of peanut butter to feed squirrels. I'm definitely going to miss him my condolences to the entire family. - Posted by: Esther (friend) on: Jan 17, 2015

As a child I grew up on McCallman and Mr and Mrs. Hodge were well known to all us kids on the street. Mr. Hodge was the kind man sitting out front enjoying his days chatting with neighbours passing by. He always told us stories and offered us kids freezies. My thoughts and prayers go out to the family during this difficult time. - Posted by: Kayla Timlick (Past Neighbour) on: Dec 16, 2014
