NANCY HELEN PUTZ (nee TURPIN) April 20, 1953 - December 11, 2014 Suddenly and peacefully, after a short battle with leukemia, we sadly announce the passing of beloved wife and mother, Nancy Helen Putz on December 11, 2014 at the Health Sciences Centre in Winnipeg, at the age of 61 years. During her life, Nancy endured many health problems including Crohn's Disease, a Heart Valve Replacement, other heart problems and various surgeries. Despite these challenges, Nancy always maintained a positive and courageous attitude. She was predeceased by her father Arthur in 2008 and mother Stella Turpin in 1965, survived by her loving husband Jim, sons: Michael and Adam (Christy), sister Brenda Boucher (Don), and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. On April 20, 1953 Nancy was born in Winnipeg to Arthur and Stella Turpin. In 1980, she married the love of her life, Jim and had two sons. She worked for many years as a finance agent at Air Canada and in her later years she enjoyed volunteering her skills at Riverview Health Centre, Victoria General Hospital and various other charities. She loved traveling to various destinations, including England, Alaska and Hawaii, going on countless camping trips with her family to the Black Hills, Bemidji and Hinckley, MN. Nancy also enjoyed spending time with friends, including Marriage Encounter and two Red Hat groups. She loved baking and trying new recipes, collecting angel figurines and never turned down the opportunity to play a game of canasta. Nancy lived a full and happy life and was much loved by all who knew her. We are grateful that she has been a part of our lives and we know that she will now be with the chorus of angels that she so adored. The family would like to thank hospital staff at Victoria General Hospital, St. Boniface General Hospital and the Health Sciences Centre for their outstanding support and care of Nancy over the years. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of your choice. Funeral Mass will take place on Tuesday, December 16 at 11:00 a.m., St. Bernadette Parish, 820 Cottonwood Rd. Viewing will be held one hour prior. • Jim, Adam and Michael, I feel your loss. When I first met Nancy (and Jim) they were my bosses at Riverview Health Center. Then we became friends and Nancy and I continued to spend time together, shopping and especially going twice a month to the Japanese Cultural Center for lunch. She so loved her Japanese food. • We will both miss Nancy. When our son Trevor moved to Winnipeg she was there for him and ensured that he wasn't alone for the holidays. She loved to do things for others and she always made sure that Trevor would have a " Jeanie Cake" for his birthday. It was comforting to us to know that he had family in Winnipeg. Trevor always spoke of Nancy as his " Winnipeg Mom " She will always hold a special spot in our hearts. Rest in Peace Nancy - Posted by: Ken and Darlene (brother in-law and sister-inlaw) on: Dec 13, 2014

  • We participated in the Crown Jewels, and Red Hats. She had a great quite sense humour. I followed her ups and downs with her health and I am sorely going to miss her. Unfortunately like my husband Ron she has passed during the Christmas season which adds to the sorrow for all who loved her! My condolence wishes to Jim and the Boys! :( - Posted by: Aileen Feicho (Long time friend of the family. ) on: Dec 13, 2014

  • Nancy, my dearest friend, thank you for being my friend all these years - I will miss you. Even though you endured many health issues, it is your giggle and your smile that will always be with me. From the time we first became friends as young teenagers, you have shown kindness and thoughtfulness to others and that fine attribute has lasted all your life. All people you have known are enriched for having had you in their lives. I love you Nancy! Jim, We are truly sorry for your loss - your best friend, your wife. A strong, good marriage! May your good memories bring you comfort. She is definitely with the angels now! Adam and Michael, I know that Nancy loved you both dearly and was proud of you both. Thank you for being good sons and being there for her. Sincerely, Harlene and Ron - Posted by: Harlene Prach (Friend) on: Dec 13, 2014
