DOUGLAS GUDMANDSON It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Douglas Harold Gudmandson on December 8, 2014, following a lengthy illness. Doug was predeceased by his first wife, Martha Dunlop Gudmandson (Perry) and second wife Hazel Ruth Gudmandson (Wilson); parents Villyaimur (Gus) Gudmandson and Ella Wixon; and brother William Gudmandson. Doug leaves a loving family to mourn his passing, sons Hugh Gudmandson and Bill Gudmandson (Nancy); stepdaughters Tracy Boyer (Craig), Beverly Shafirka (Ron); stepson Russell Wilson (Lise); grandchildren Jill Gudmandson, Kim Gudmandson, Scott Gudmandson, Michael Gudmandson, Reed Boyer, Carina Kizlik (Kevin), Heather Miller (Brian), Michael Shafirka, Jonathan Wilson (Mary Oscarson), Donna Hoad (John), Paul Wilson. Doug was born in Winnipeg, MB, in 1925, lived in Winnipeg, Sarnia and Edmonton while working for Imperial Oil and returned to Winnipeg upon retirement for his remaining life. He enjoyed camping (trailering) throughout Canada and the United States. Doug spent many happy years officiating track and field, curling and golf. Thank you to the staff at the Waverly Retirement Home and the numerous Health Care Workers that helped to keep Dad comfortable over the last year; with a special thank you to Lana. Cremation has taken place. Friends are invited to join the family for a reception to celebrate Doug's life on Tuesday, December 16, at 2:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. Flowers are gratefully declined.
