ROBERT CHARLES PORTER It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Robert Charles Porter, aged 69 years, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Bob was predeceased by his father Albert and his mother Marion. He is survived by his wife Joan, daughter Ginny, son John (Susan) and son Don, grandchildren James, John Jr., Martin and Francis, his brother Wayne, brother-in-law Ed, nephew Greg (Monica), nephew Andrew (Karen), grand-nephews, cousins and other friends and relatives in Canada, the United States and England. Bob was born May 19, 1945, in Winnipeg, Manitoba. He grew up in Transcona, attending Transcona Collegiate. He spent much of his young adulthood traveling, splitting his time between British Columbia and Manitoba. It was during one of these trips that he met his wife Joan, whom he married on October 21, 1967. Together, after spending some time living in northern British Columbia, they and their three children settled back in Transcona, where they lived for the next 38 years. Bob worked as a welder at the Canadian National Railway Transcona Shops until his retirement in 1999. Bob enjoyed the quiet life with his close friends and family, watching his children grow up. He especially enjoyed old movies and collecting old records and vintage radios. He had a soft spot in his heart for all animals, especially his cats, and was an avid supporter of the Winnipeg Humane Society. As per his wishes, Bob has decided to have his remains cremated. There will be no funeral service. However, there will be a private family gathering to celebrate his life at a later time. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Jocelyn House Hospice in Winnipeg, The Winnipeg Humane Society, or the charity of one's choosing. Arrangements in care of Voyage Funeral Home.

My Dearest Cousin Bob, I pray with all my heart that we will meet again. I wished so much that I could have spent longer with you than those few short days we had together. Thank you for embracing me and for the love I felt so strongly. God bless you and may the angels guide you safely into, and throughout, your new life.
