DONNA GAIL HOLDSWORTH February 5, 1941 - December 5, 2014 After a brief illness, Donna passed away at Health Sciences Centre with family at her side. Donna was born in Regina, where she met Dennis Holdsworth while working at Sears. They were married in 1962 and spent the next 52 years together. Donna and Dennis moved to Winnipeg in 1969, where they raised three children. After retiring, they moved north of Gimli where Donna developed many strong friendships within the community. Donna is survived by her husband Dennis; children Mark and Michelle (Gilles); grandchildren Trent, Dana and Dylan; siblings Bill Warriner, Audrey Patl (Peter), and Cathy Mcfadzean (Tom); along with several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her parents (Bill and Carol Warriner), daughter Marla Holdsworth, and grandson Carter Holdsworth. Throughout her life, Donna was involved in many community organizations. Whether it was volunteering at Melrose Community Club, Cub Scouts, Brownies, or various school activities, Donna could always be counted on to be a part of her children's lives. Over the years, she worked for several companies but it was her position as a sales rep for Clairol that Donna enjoyed most. After retiring, she returned to volunteering at the Silver Harbour Cottage Owners Association and the Gimli New Horizons Centre. Family was of utmost importance to Donna. Whether it was camping, caring for her grandchildren, or planning Christmas celebrations, Donna was always focused on getting the family together. For that, we are eternally thankful. The family would like to thank Dr. Patel and staff at the Gimli Hospital, as well as the medical staff at the Health Sciences Centre Intensive Care ward for their care and efforts. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on December 17, 2014 at the New Horizons Centre, 17 North Colonization Road, Gimli, MB. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to CancerCare Manitoba. It was with shock and disbelief that we heard of Donna's passing one year ago today. She was such a vibrant, caring, humorous, down to earth lady, someone who truly took interest in her family and friends. It is with sadness and grief that we remember our dear friend today. Rest in peace Donna and strength to your family at this time of remembrance. - Posted by: Elsha Kowbel and family (Friend) on: Dec 05, 2015

Donna and Jean and myself were friends in Regina. I was with Donna the day she met Dennis. We kept in touch and she promised after I sent my new email address to keep in touch. I really wondered what had happened her. She was so much fun and sat at my Guest Register at my wedding. She was amazing. I send my love to Dennis and the family - Posted by: Lexie Nash (met at Sears where we worked after school) on: Apr 03, 2015

I am shocked and so sorry to hear of Donna's passing. We were friends from Scott Colligate in Regina. We had been back in touch again and swapped stories of our families, bragged about our children and grandchildren, husbands. We laughed over high school stories and how we hadn't aged at all since graduation. I so enjoyed renewing our friendship. My deepest thoughts, prayers and sympathies go out to her family and friends. All of us were better for having Donna in our lives. - Posted by: Phyllis Johnson ( nee Bowie) (School friend) on: Mar 11, 2015

Dennis and family, I was so sorry to open the paper today and read of Donna's passing. I fondly recall many camping days at West Hawk with your family, Ross, Myra, Gav and Col. A few conversations on the phone with Donna in past years certainly showed her enthusiasm for life. My thoughts are with you all as you move forward without her. - Posted by: Heather Morton (James/Fick) (Acquaintance) on: Dec 13, 2014
