Date of Passing: Dec 13, 2014
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryGEOFFREY GRANT STEWART November 5, 1954 December 13, 2014 Geoff was born in Brandon, MB to Dorothy (nee Lange) and Robert Stewart. He married Andrea (nee Enss) on December 15, 1984 and together they have spent the past 30 years on a wonderful journey. There were a few bumps in the road but nothing that love and hard work could not overcome. Geoff's hobbies included stamps, comic books, reading, painting scale metal D&D figures, playing D&D with his friends at home and online. His passions were his wife, his dog Nickie and his Masonic family. Geoff became a Mason February 11, 1999 with Starbuck Lodge #160 and soon after also joined Red River Valley #21 Royal Arch Masons, Selkirk Conclave #6 Red Cross of Constantine and Cyrus Council #2 Cryptic Rite Masons. In January of 2002 Geoff and Andrea joined Fort Garry #17 Order of the Eastern Star and when it closed affiliated with Friendship #67. Geoff held many offices in these various organizations and was proud of the accomplishments he and the Masonic family have made in his life and the lives of those in the community that these organizations support. His working career was varied and included working at the Manitoba Developmental Centre for 11 years, as a security guard for 10 years, working for his father-in-law's tool and die shop for five years and most recently for the City of Winnipeg as an office cleaner for the police at District 2 and 3 stations. He always gave 100% and had a smile and kind word for everyone. Early in 2013 he had some health issues that resulted in the finding of kidney cancer and required the removal of the left kidney. At his six-month check it was found that the cancer had returned and Geoff spent the remainder of his days fighting a losing battle but fought bravely. Geoff is survived by his loving wife Andrea, sister Patricia Harrison with nephew Jonathan Harrison, his mother-in-law Inge Enss and his special adopted family Cheryl, Steve, Haley, Aidan and Brody McQueen. Donations in Geoff's memory can be made to the Masons Care Drivers Program or The Grand Chapter of Manitoba Order of the Eastern Star. Many thanks to all our Masonic families and our work families as well as our special McQueen family without whom we could not have gotten through this difficult time. Thanks also to the doctors and nurses at CancerCare Manitoba and the palliative care staff at Riverview Health Centre who looked after Geoff so well. You are the angels that do what most of us cannot. A memorial service will take place on Friday, December 19, 2014 at 11:30 a.m. at Neil Bardal Funeral Centre, 3030 Notre Dame Avenue (across from Brookside Cemetery). Met "the bear" in grade nine. Had a lot of good times together, worked a summer together at Modern Dairies. Lost touch in recent years, as I moved out of province, but always kept updated through mutual friends. Geoff will be missed. Say hi to Rossco and Gordie for me. Peace. - Posted by: Tom Downie (friend) on: Dec 16, 2014

Dearest Andrea, I am so sorry to hear that Geof has gone. I only had the privilege to meet him a few times and found him to be a very interesting person. I`ve prayed that Geof`s final journey will bring you peace knowing he is with our Lord God and you find peace knowing that he is not in any more pain. God Bless you and may God be with you during this difficult time. - Posted by: Donna Hartie (Friend) on: Dec 15, 2014

Geoff was a fine young man who always had a ready smile and a kind word. He was an industrious worker for the Order of the Eastern Star and was much appreciated. I for one will miss him for lots of reasons. - Posted by: Ray Anderson (Star friend) on: Dec 15, 2014
