It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Daniel on Thursday, December 11, 2014, at St. Boniface Hospital at 31 years of age.
Upon his birth Daniel was diagnosed with heart disease and the following day underwent his first of many surgeries and procedures. His health issues never held him back from accomplishing his goals and his philosophy was to live his life to the fullest. Daniel graduated from Sisler High School in 2001. Following a year off from school he attended Red River College for Culinary Arts before deciding to pursue a career in broadcasting. He attended Tec Voc High School's radio broadcasting program before attending the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology (SAIT) in Calgary where he graduated with a diploma in Radio Broadcasting specializing in production. During his career he was employed at the GOAT in Lloydminster, NCI in Winnipeg and Bell Media, also in Winnipeg. Daniel had a variety of creative endeavors; a garage band in which he played guitar, movie production, and performances in the Winnipeg Fringe Festival. He was best known for his stand-up comedy becoming a regular at several comedy venues including Finn's Pub and Rumors Comedy Club. Daniel was also lucky enough to perform his stand-up comedy at the Central Canada Comic Convention (Comic Con).
Daniel will be missed by his parents Pat and Ken, brother Andrew, sister Ally, Baba Irene Dobush, Aunty Chris Dobush, Uncle Fred and Aunty Donna Shandroski, as well as several other relatives and friends.
A Memorial Service will take place Friday, December 19, 2014, at 10:00 a.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel (1442 Main Street in Winnipeg) followed by interment at St. Mary's Riverside Cemetery in Prawda, MB; directions can be obtained at www.cropo.com
Sincere thanks to the late Dr. Jack Armstrong and Dr. Anthony Miller - without whose guidance and council his time with us would have been much shorter.

Daniel certainly lived his life to the fullest. Always pleasnt and when arriving at his parents, he always took some time in asking how you are doing. I remember the first time when I babysat Daniel. I sang to him and bounced him on my knee to get him from crying. Then Pat and Ken called to ask how things were going. I said, " we are doing fine." My heart goes out to Ken and Pat who are wonderful people who were always out there for their children. All my love, Diana Bailey - Posted by: Diana Bailey (Long time friend of the Shandroski family) on: Dec 21, 2014

My deepest sympathies to the Shandroski family. Dan was an amazing individual. The strength he showed, well he made it seem effortless. You wouldn't even be able to tell that he was sick. Dan's spirit will always be an inspiration to me. I miss him but I also feel so privileged that I got to know him. He was the kind of guy that regardless of who you were you couldn't help but love Dan. You raised an amazing human being and he will be deeply missed. - Posted by: Scott (Friend) on: Dec 18, 2014

I worked with Dan at NCI and we became fast friends. We would take great delight in making each other laugh, and that camaraderie only served to fuel our creative juices as fellow producers. He was in my corner when I lost my Mom; something I'll never forget. There's not a day goes by when I don't pick up my phone wanting to text him about something going on at work, or just to be silly. I will miss him greatly. My most heartfelt sympathy goes out to his family and his many friends who are feeling a hole in their lives now that he's moved on to his next great adventure. - Posted by: Rick Baverstock (Friend) on: Dec 17, 2014

I'm truly sorry for the loss of your son/brother. I met Dan through comedy about a year ago.. within that year I have met many great souls. However his was the greatest of all. I'm so heartbroken that he is gone. I was in shock to find out. Him and I where laughing and within moments I find out he did not make it out. He was truly my best friend. The pain for me is unbearable and I can't imagine what your (Dan's family) is going through. He was just an amazing person. He was there for me when I needed someone. When I needed a place to stay he let me in. He always made me smile with his laugh his hugs and his over all personality. And although he is gone and it will cause heartache and pain for all of us, we just need to keep in mind knowing him well that he would want us to not hurt forever. He is in a better much safer, peaceful place now and I look forward to seeing him again soon. Again I'm deeply sorry for his passing. Xoxo Imogen. - Posted by: imogen (close friend ) on: Dec 17, 2014

To the Shandroski family...my heart is filled with sorrow hearing of Daniel's passing. My daughter was in his room in grade 1. I remember talking to his mom quite often as I had lost a son to a heart defect. We kind of had much in common. I remember going on class field trips with Daniel, he was such an amazing kid, who grew into an amazing adult. Know that my heart & thoughts are with you at this time. It is very hard losing a child whether it be 6 months old or 31 years old. Sincere sympathy. - Posted by: Heather Nowak () on: Dec 17, 2014

We're sorry to hear about the loss of your son. When reading the obituary about his accomplishments, we could see how determined he was to make the most of life. We remember a story you told about coming to your parents who were babysitting, and finding him reading the paper with his morning coffee!!!! Only at grandparents can that happen. Take good care of yourselves because that is what he would want you to do. Sincerely Florence and Bernie - Posted by: Florence and Bernie Kisiloski (Friends ) on: Dec 17, 2014

We are so deeply saddened by this. Danny was such a great kid....since the day he was born and through all the hardships he endured...he always had a glowing smile. He touched so many hearts. We sometimes have difficulty understanding why God calls his angels home at such an early age. He has plans for Danny...and you can bet he will "get right in there" and carry on with the tasks at hand. God Bless you my lil buddy. Sincerest condolences to Pat, Kenny and the family. May God be with you during this most difficult time. Lindy & Adeline - Posted by: Linden & Adeline Johnson (friends) on: Dec 15, 2014
