Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMARJORY ROCHELLE ALEXANDER 1932 - 2014 Our beloved mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend passed away peacefully at Tuxedo Villa on December 11, 2014. She will be lovingly remembered by her son, Vaughan (Leslie) and daughter, Brandee (Carl). She was grandmother to Braden, Stephen, Alana, Zoey, Jeremy, Heaven Dawn, Joseph and Dakota, who will miss her dearly. She will also be missed by many relatives and friends, especially her good friend Erlene. Marj was predeceased by her sister Beverley and husband Donald. Marj was born December 16, 1932. She grew up on Brooklyn St. (Lynbrook) in Charleswood. Like many of her generation she was deeply affected by the Second World War. Her father left in 1939 and did not return until 1945. "Little Marjie" helped raise her siblings during the war years. When her father returned after six years she was the only one of his children old enough to remember him. It created a bond they would cherish forever. She met her sweetheart at Chapman School in grade four. She and Hap were married in 1953 and spent the next 42 years on Coventry Rd. There were very few neighbours in the early years and they became a very close group who were responsible for many of mom's favourite memories. Later in life she took up new pursuits joining the Charleswood Art group and the St. James & Polo Park bowling leagues and Vimy lawn bowling. She was an intelligent and kind person who always put the needs of her family first. She was a great support to both her kids as they raised their families. Marj will be remembered for her quick wit, exceptional baking skills, creative nature, love for all animals, bowling prowess, positive outlook and strong will. Marj made each grandchild feel special. She will forever have a special place in their hearts. According to her wishes she has been cremated. A celebration of her life will be held at the Meeting Place, 143 Smith St. on Friday, December 19 at 2:00 p.m. Interment will take place on a sunny day in June along with the remains of her one love. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Riverview or the Humane Society. The family would like to thank the staff at Grace Hospital, Riverview and Tuxedo Villa for their care and compassion.

I loved you rmom. She was such an integral part of my life when we were young. Our families were intertwined in all the bizarre craziness of our Fathers and all that entailed. I have many memories of her but there is one that will stay with me forever. I called the house one night, out of the blue. I had not spoken to either of them for at least 10 years. I called to say I was at the hospital and that my dad was dying if they wanted to see him. Shorty afterwards, there was your Mom. She wrapped her arms around me and said, I felt so very alone when my Dad was dying and I did not want you to feel that so I came. Only your Mom would be that kind. Her loss will be great for your family but the memories so very wonderful. Cid. - Posted by: Cindi French (Family Friend) on: Dec 15, 2014
