Condolences & Memories (4 entries)

  • My husband and I are so saddened and sorry to have just learned of Denis' passing. Our hearts are with you. Your dad (and son) was my first love. We were two of a large group of friends sharing time hanging around Happyland Park and hockey rinks. Don (my husband) went through grades 1-6 with him. You dad was so caring and a gentleman. We started dating (can you really call it dating when you are 12 & 14 years old? Lol). He was so cute and I considered him one of the hottest guys in our group. It was a time for crossing boundaries and occasionally we would share a beer and feel so grown up! I can't remember if he ever smoked but he was a great hugger since most of our time was spent at the park. We were together over a year and a half. It was long enough for my family to keep calling Don 'Denis' for a few months once he and I began dating. At school dances Denis and his buddies would line the auditorium walls while the girls would dance together. Then a waltz would begin and he would swoop in to hold me close while it played. One of my most precious memories is of receiving an invitation to your dad's wedding! I've never known anyone who invited their first love to such a special day. I have a favorite photo of the two of us at my place. It was Christmas time in 1968. I would love to share it with you. I hope in time your holiday memories become happier and that this be one of them. Your dad opened my heart and remains there wrapped in love. • I am truly sorry for your loss. I had the honor and privilege of working with Denis at Motor Coach Industries for many years. I also had the pleasure of playing many rounds of golf with him.
