Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryESTHER DEEZAR Ending a full life, our mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother and sister passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 13, 2014 at the age of 91. Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Beverley (David) Bablo, Georgina (Perry) Marchand, Valerie (Scott) Baker and her son Les (Joanne) Deezar, grandchildren Jennifer (Wes) Giesbrecht, Christopher (Raeanne) Bablo, Kathryn (Jay) Heinrichs, Brian Marchand, Kevin Marchand, Robert (Tamara) Marchand, Evan Marchand, Alexandre, Josée and Théodore Deezar, great- grandchildren Molly, Paul, Brooklyn, Ella, Jace, Nash, Justyna, and great-great-grandchild, Amelia. Mom also leaves to mourn her passing her sister and best friend Bertha Adams. She was predeceased by her husband John and sister Adeline. Mom was born in Morden Manitoba on August 6, 1923, the second of three daughters born to Amalie and Henry Herman. She grew up on the family farm in the Pembina valley and attended Riverdale School. Life on the farm was hard however Mom and her sisters always made the best of what they had. Their social life was going to school by day and in the evening doing handwork and playing cards by kerosene lamp. They enjoyed sledding in the winter and baseball in the summer. Mom moved to Winnipeg in 1941 along with Grace Armstrong and the two remained friends for over 80 years On June 21, 1952 Esther Herman married John Laurenz Deezar. Together they raised four children. Mom's focus was always family first. This included Christmas gatherings with all the cousins, summer vacations to Saskatchewan and BC, birthday parties and many Sunday night dinners with family. There was always enough for everyone. Mom was a hardworking, dedicated, determined and fun loving person who never had a bad word to say about anyone. When things got tough Mom just forged ahead and never looked back. In 1988, Esther retired from CNR after 35 years of service. Following retirement Mom was able to travel which she enjoyed immensely. She was not a person who sat idle. When she wasn't babysitting her grandchildren, she was gardening, walking, baking or crocheting. Esther was a long standing member of St. John's and Grace Lutheran churches. The family would like to extend their sincere thanks and appreciation to the Parkside Social Club, Dr. Miller and nurse Linda Sokol for the many years of care, the home care team, and the medical staff at Concordia Hospital Emergency for their compassionate care during Mom's last hours. A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, December 19, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home. Interment to follow. Donations in Esther's memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, the Heart and Stroke Foundation, or the CNIB. Hi. I met your Mom through the Social Club in 1630. I don't think I ever saw her with a frown on her face (unless she was being funny!). While your family will miss their Mother, Bertha will find life difficult to be without her sister. They were always together! My Condolences to all of you! She was one sweet lady! - Posted by: Joan Cymbalist y (friend from 1630) on: Dec 18, 2014

I enjoyed visiting with your mom. When I came to Winnipeg, I could call her to see if she wanted to visit Helen Panchuk. She would always pick a convenient time in her busy day to be able to share with old friends. When I came to pick her up she would always recognize mom's early model Chevrolet and we would definitely have lively conversation on the way to the home. While visiting, I would enjoy their storytelling of days gone by and remember those fun family gatherings of our childhood. She never hesitated to share best of the past and present and viewed life as a great gift. May God bless her eternally and comfort you at this time. - Posted by: Michael Panchuk (friend) on: Dec 18, 2014

So very sorry to hear of Esther's passing. We just lost mom (Grace Armstrong) last month and Esther, Mom and Bertha certainly showed us a friendship that endured a great many years. They are all amazing women. I attended Esther's 90th birthday party along with mom, and it was wonderful to be included with such a great group. Your families will dearly miss her and our hearts go out to each and everyone one of you. Pat Hawkins & the Armstrong Families - Posted by: Pat Hawkins (Family Friend) on: Dec 17, 2014
