ETHEL WALCHUK May 1, 1918 - December 18, 2014 Mom passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, December 18, 2014. She was born May 1, 1918 on a small farm near Nokomis, SK to Martin and Paulina Feldsher. She lived on the farm until the passing of her mother. Shortly after she moved to Vancouver where she met her future husband, William Walchuk. They moved to Winnipeg after the war, married and had three sons. After his passing she worked several jobs preparing food, eventually ending up at the Fred Douglas Lodge working in the kitchen until her retirement. During retirement she enjoyed cooking, baking, going for long walks, spending time with friends and neighbours and watching her favourite church services on TV. In her final years she became ill and needed constant care. A special thank you to Shannon Ternovetsky (home care nurse) who worked for and helped Ethel stay in her home for the last 11 years until her passing. Shannon was a passionate care giver and friend to our Mom. Ethel will be missed by her three sons Gerry (Pat), Grant (Heather) and Gary; grandchildren Kristopher and Maria. In keeping with Ethel's wishes cremation has taken place and a graveside service will take place on Monday, December 29 at 1:00 p.m.at Brookside Cemetery, 3001 Notre Dame Avenue.
