CECILE LAVOIE 1915-2014 Cécile passed away peacefully at Actionmarguerite (Taché Centre) on December 16, 2014 at the age of 99. She leaves to cherish her memory three brothers and one sister: Athanase (Thérèse) St.-Boniface, Germain (Françoise) Montreal, QC, Joseph (Georgina), Smithers, BC and Lucie, St. Boniface. She was predeceased by her parents Athanase Lavoie and Virginie Paradis and brothers Rev Roland Lavoie, Dr. Clément Lavoie (Joan), Rodolphe and Gérard and three sisters, Irène (Gordon Fraser) Joséphine and Thérèse. Cécile was born in Dunrea, MB. After she had completed her elementary grades in Dunrea, she attended the Oblate Sisters Convent in Fannystelle where she obtained her grade 12 certificate. From there she moved to Winnipeg where she spent most of her years working until her retirement in 1980. However, from 1942 to 1946, when her three brothers were serving in the military forces, she went back home to Dunrea to help her father who owned a general store. Later on, she dropped her job in the city and moved to St. Eustache for five years to do housekeeping for her brother, the late Rev. Roland Lavoie who was the local pastor. Cécile was a very hard worker and a dedicated person who was always ready to lend a helping hand, one who never complained nor talked negatively of anyone and an absolutely amazing seamstress. She would also once a year treat all members of the family, including nieces and nephews who lived in Winnipeg to a dinner at a local restaurant or hotel. The family extends special thanks to the staff at Actionmarguerite for the professional care she received while she was there. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Boniface Cathedral, 190 Avenue de la Cathédrale on Monday, December 22 at 10:30 a.m. Eulogy will be said at 10:15 a.m. Desjardins 233-4949 1-888-233-4949 www.desjardinsfuneralchapel.ca

I have so many fond memories of my m'tante Cecile~ from shopping excursions downtown and lunch at the Paddlewheel; her sweet teasing of my focused expression while drawing cartoons; her gracious hospitality at welcoming a multitude of nieces & nephews to her home for tortière after midnight mass; and until well in her 80's~ treating the same nieces & nephews with THEIR children to a feast at Foody Goody and watching with amazement as she consumed almost as much as us!! She will be forever remembered for her kindness, loyalty, sense of humour and style. Nous t'aimeront toujours m'tante Cecile!! - Posted by: Marie Lavoie (Niece) on: Dec 22, 2014
