CHARLIE ZAMMIT January 26, 1935 - December 18, 2014 On December 18 dad left us to be with the love of his life, McGee. He was Dad to Kim and Kelly, and Charlie to everyone else including sons-in-law Jim and Dave, grandchildren Nicole, Marlee, Jessica, Ryan, Carly and Jordan and soon to be born great-grandson Duke. A man of few words, people listened when dad spoke. He was a highly respected gentleman not only by his colleagues but by his family and many friends. All who knew dad placed him on a pedestal as he was a man of integrity and principle. An Engineer by trade, dad was good at anything he put his mind to. Some of dad's passions such as hunting, fishing, woodworking, golfing, travelling and the stocks varied over the years. However, the one passion that remained constant was the unconditional love, guidance and support he had for his family. Dad's strong, silent presence will be missed by everyone who was blessed to have had him in their life. Heartfelt thank yous to the countless medical personnel, family and friends that provided support to dad and our family during this time. There will be a service on December 29, 2014, at 11:00 a.m. at John XXIII, 3390 Portage Avenue. Any donations can be made to a charity of your choice.

Condolences & Memories (4 entries)

  • I met Marie and Charlie about 20 years ago and spend many hours and days enjoying their company while partying or traveling together. We had a lot in common, and Charlie and I would talk about business over the projects that we were working on. Charlie was a man of few words unless you got him alone and talking about SKF Bearings and some of the customers that we had in common when I worked for Gulf Oil Canada. One of these customers was Vic Allard who was in charge of purchasing for Dryden Pulp and Paper. He told us that he remembers Charlie as a very competent engineer who helped them with maintenance and equipment problems. We traveled a lot together and saw the Maritimes, Cancun, Mazatlan, and San Jose del Cabos together and had a million laughs on the way. I think that they were a very happy couple because of their strong religious beliefs, and we would trundle off to church in a foreign country although we did not understand a word that was being said. When my wife died of ovarian cancer Charlie and Marie who were there to help me along the way. They were there also to welcome my new wife Charlotte into the group and to introduce us into the Saturday morning breakfast group. Charlie was a loving character, and always made us feel welcome. This loving nature is now part of Kim and Kelly who are living examples of his wonderful nature. He will be missed by Charlotte and I, as a big hole has appeared in our lives with Charlie's leaving. - Posted by: Bob and Charlotte Nichols (Friend) on: Dec 28, 2014

  • Kelly, I am so sorry to hear of the passing of your Dad. Both your Dad and Mom will always have a special place in my heart, they were both very welcoming lovely people. I will always remember your Dad as a quiet man, enjoying fishing at the lake and working around the house and cottage. I will always remember how much he enjoyed his computer too! I wish I was able to be there for you, as you were for me. Thinking of you, your family as well as Kim and her family. Talk soon. - Posted by: Barb and John Mann (Friend of Kelly's) on: Dec 22, 2014
