Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryANA BODI August 3, 1939 - December 12, 2014 Ana was born to Andras and Ana Bodi in Ajta Mare, Romania (Nagy Ajta, Szekelyfold, Transylvania). She was predeceased by her parents and sisters-in-law Zsuzsika and Erzsike and first husband Istvan Kovacs. She will be sadly missed by husband Sandor Mate, sons Istvan Steven Kovacs of Winnipeg and Bendeguz Kovacs of Romania, daughters-in-law Anita and Delia; brothers Andras and Arpad (Rozsika) of Romania; grandsons (Nagymami) Andrew, David and Mikael Kovacs of Winnipeg, Benno Kovacs of Germany, and baby David Bendeguz Kovacs of Romania; stepdaughters Kathy Parobec and Judy Mate and their sons Matthew and Colin who called her Nana. Also her godchildren Zsoka (Mozes), Arpika (Andrea) and Adelka (Huba); and many friends in Winnipeg and Romania. Ana came to Canada in 1988 to visit her beloved son Istvan and decided to remain here. In 1991 she received her Canadian citizenship and in 1997 she married Sandor Mate. Up until her sudden illness two weeks ago, Ana was full of life, love and goodness. She loved her family, her husband, her children and grandchildren. She cherished her Charleswood home, her neighbours, nature and wildlife, the birds and deer, especially the young fawns. She devoted much of her time to flowers and plants and gardening. Besides all this, she always enjoyed going on 'Skype' to talk with her brother Bandibattya, her son Bendeguz and grandson little baby Davidka. Her home was her pride and joy; she kept everything spic and span, and everything had to be in place. She did some beautiful needlework. She loved to cook and bake and one of her greatest joys was watching her grandchildren enjoying her meals. Many thanks to the doctors and nurses at GH7 Health Sciences Centre for taking good care of Ana during her short illness, especially Dr. Bal. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held in Ana's memory at the St. Andrews River Heights/Hungarian United Church at 255 Oak Street on Sunday, December 21, 2014 at 2:30 p.m.
