I met Bernie in 2005 when I joined the Millionaires Senior Men's Baseball team in Charleswood MB. I was the youngster on the team at 41, Bernie was the veteran at 71 and the elder statesman of the league. My family and I were in awe at how Bernie was still playing ball at a competitive level at 72.. we played ball together until he was 77! He was an inspiration coming out to every game with his old sock wrapped around his water bottle. Bernie was a good man with a big heart and a competitive edge. I have a team photo in my living room with Bernie proudly standing in the front row after we won the league championship in 2012. You'll be missed, but not forgotten my friend. RIP. - Posted by: Terry Romanishen (Friend - Team Mate) on: Feb 02, 2015

I was saddened to just learn of Bernie's (Danny Boy) passing in Calgary. I spent a lot of time and shared good memories with Bernie during the many hockey tournaments we attended. His passion for the sport, support he provided to members during his tenure with the RCMP, and his love for his family, made Bernie a very special man. My condolences to the family. I knew Bernie during my service in the RCMP. He sure loved his hockey, had the pleasure playing against and with him during RCMP Tournaments. RIP my friend. Too bad we lose touch/contact when we retire from the force. - Posted by: Bill James (Friend) on: Jan 01, 2015

Bernie, and his wife Marnie, were true friends throughout the years starting in The Pas in 1959. Bernie was a top notch organizer and had a gifted knack for selling and raising funds. He was always fun to work with and a very dedicated member of the RCMP. We shall miss both Bernie and Marnie - Posted by: John & Shirley Warnke (Long time friends and fellow RCMP officer) on: Dec 22, 2014

My condolences to the entire O'Callaghan family. Bernie was an amazing man. I first met Bernie during an RCMP hockey tournament in Winnipeg in the early 80's. I wasn't sure he was a member of the RCMP with all of his sales of RCMP items and memorabilia but soon found that he was the man to go to for any little thing you needed. He will be sorely missed by all those that knew him, especially his family. Rest in Peace Bernie! - Posted by: Wayne O'Brien (Former RCMP Member in "D" Div.) on: Dec 20, 2014
