JIM HULL July 15, 1948 - November 25, 2014 With profound sorrow the family wishes to announce the sudden passing of our dear husband, father and grandfather, Jim Hull, at his home in Nanaimo, BC. Though he left us far too soon, his life exemplified the strong and principled man he was and the fine example he set for others. Jim spent his high school years at Paterson Collegiate in Windsor, Ontario, followed by 29 years of proud service with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police throughout D Division (Manitoba). While in the RCMP he served as the Head of Sector Sarajevo during the war in Bosnia. After his time with the RCMP he was Director of the Manitoba Chief Medical Examiner's office in Winnipeg. Jim's unique skill set and urge to make a difference led to his being asked to undertake a number of international missions as both a police trainer and security expert in Kosovo with the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe, with the U.S. State Department in Jordan and finally with the United Nations in New York City. Jim will never be forgotten by his wife Elizabeth, Nanaimo, daughter Amy Strattner (Justin), Nanaimo, son Michael ((Nicole), Maple Ridge, BC, his grandson Zachary Strattner and his faithful and loving dog Jasper. He is also survived by his mother Marion, Kanata, Ontario, very special big brother Bill (Nancy), Kanata, Ontario, brothers-in-law Paul Mingay (Barb), Tecumseh, Ontario and Peter Mingay (Beth), Amherstburg, Ontario, and sister-in-law Carol Sansburn (Peter), Victoria, BC, ten nephews and one niece. According to Jim's wishes there will be no service. Cremation has taken place. Interment to follow at a later date in the Forest Walk at Cedar Memorial Gardens. Elizabeth, Amy and Michael wish to thank the numerous family, friends and caring professionals who are helping us through our painful loss. Those who wish may make donations in Jim's memory to Cops for Kids Charitable Foundation at www.copsforkids.org or the Nanaimo SPCA at www.spca.bc.ca/nanaimo Sands - Nanaimo
