DON MARION October 3, 1947- December 20, 2014 It is with heavy hearts we announce the peaceful passing of Don Marion at the age of 67, surrounded by his family, after a lengthy and courageous battle with cancer. He leaves to mourn his loving wife of 46 years Beverly (Helman), children Monique (Darin Wright); Carolyn Maguet (Roger) and grandchildren Mario, Milaine, Annabella, Zavier; Michelle Hardy (Chris), grandchildren Mack, Alexia, Rayne; Jean-Guy (Michelle) and grandchildren Elliott, Max, Sawyer; Chantale Bruinooge (Rod) and grandchildren Sarah and Luke. He also leaves to mourn his siblings Gisèle (Pat Matthews), Diane, Guy (Diane), Jacinthe Shand (Ian), Nicole Daman (Len), Louise Wladyka (Cal Higgins), and Lisette Lussier (Dan), numerous nieces and nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles. He was predeceased by his father Amédée in 1990 and his mother Antoinette in 2013. Don was raised in St. Norbert by wonderful parents and he had great times with his six sisters and one brother. He married his high school sweetheart Bev in 1968, and had his five children before the age of 30. He turned his early passion for cars into a career in auto sales. After living in the south of Winnipeg for most of his life, he and Bev moved to Matlock in 2000 to enjoy the lake life, and returned to Winnipeg in 2012. His best times were spent with his family at the lake fishing, boating or playing crib, or cruising around in his car. He enjoyed the numerous gatherings with his large extended family. Sunday mornings with crêpes after Mass were always a good time. Fondue dinners with his siblings and good friends were frequent and it wasn't uncommon to find a party going on at Don and Bev's. Mass of the Resurrection will be held on Monday, December 29, 1:00 p.m., at Mary, Mother of the Church parish, 85 Kirkbridge Dr., with Fr. Kevin Bettens presiding. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Don's memory to CancerCare Manitoba. The family would like to extend its sincere appreciation to Don's long-time physicians Dr. Hayward, Dr. Chowdhury, Dr. Maksymiuk, and the amazing palliative care staff at CancerCare.

  • I've got wonderful memories of Mr. Marion's impish laugh when he (good-naturedly) teased someone nearby. The Marion house was always a hub of activity: There are always numerous family/extended family in the Marion house at one time on any given day. It's obvious that these folks really enjoy just being together. What is truly exceptional about the Marion house is the warmth and love in that house that increased with each additional person (friend or family) who entered. I was very sorry to hear that Don Marion passed away. My deepest condolences to Bev, Monique, Carolyn, Michelle, Jean-Guy, Chantale and their families as they grieve. - Posted by: Noreen Hoskins (O'Leary) (friend of Carolyn) on: Dec 28, 2014

  • My sincere condolences to the family. I have many good memories of Don. I remember when they lived in an apartment off St. Mary's road and we used to babysit their children. The time spent with my mom and dad sitting around the table talking about cars. Don was a great and caring man. He was a good husband, father, grandfather, brother, cousin and had wonderful friends. We will all miss him. - Posted by: Pat Vouriot (St. Godard), Roger and Kyle (Cousin) on: Dec 24, 2014

  • It was an honour to meet Don as I had worked with Bev for many years. Don had always been a friendly person and always spoke highly of his grandchildren and how proud he was watching them play sports. Don you were an amazing Man and not only is your family going to miss you but friends that you had made over the years will also. R.I.P you no longer are suffering. - Posted by: Wanda and John Yanosik (Friend of Bev (co-worker)) on: Dec 24, 2014
