Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryGERTRUDE FRIESEN (nee DUECK) October 23, 1921 - December 20, 2014 It is with deep sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Gertie Friesen, in the Morris Hospital on Saturday, December 20, 2014 surrounded by all her children. She is now sheltered in the arms of her heavenly Father, whom she faithfully served throughout her life. She was born to Jacob I. and Anna Dueck of Kleefeld, Manitoba and married Peter L. Friesen of Rosenoff, Manitoba on July 4, 1948. She is survived by five daughters and two sons: Dorothy (Menno) Kroeker, Alvira, Diana (Wayne) Fields, Wes (Alvina), Donelda, Stan and Val (Alf) Dyck as well as eight grandchildren, their spouses and 14 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by one sister, Martha Hiebert, from Abbotsford, BC. She was predeceased by her husband, Peter L. Friesen (2006), her daughter Myrna (1997), and eight siblings. Her roles in life included that as pastor's wife, farmer's wife, co-manager of Riverside Economy Shop, and mother to eight children. Her delights at home included the well-kept vegetable and flower gardens, sewing clothes for her children, reading, writing, cooking and history. She lived vicariously through her children's travels and experiences. Her last game of Skipbo has been played, her last Word Find puzzle completed, many unfinished books yet to be read, her last phone call made, as well as her last Daily Bread pages earmarked for December 16. We children will rise up and call her blessed and in her words found in many entries in her diary, we now say to her "Good Night" and see you in the morning. The viewing and devotional will be held on Monday, December 29, 2014 at 7:00 p.m. and a memorial service on Tuesday, December 30, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. Both services will be held at the Rosenort Evangelical Mennonite Church, River Road South (two miles south of Rosenort), followed by interment after the service. Should friends so desire, donations may be made to the Union Gospel Mission. Arrangements Entrusted to: Morris Funeral Home 204-746-2451
