OLGA WELICHKA (nee KOROLUK) It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Olga Welichka at Seven Oaks Hospital on the morning of December 9, 2014. Left to cherish her memory are niece, Veronica Cushman (Koroluk) and nephews, Alan Kowalec, Ernie Kowalec, Dennis Koroluk, Tom Koroluk and their families. She was predeceased by her parents Paul and Kalyna Koroluk and brothers Mike, William, Alex and sisters Effie Kowalec, Margret Sullivan, nephew Vernon Koroluk and her loving husband Nick Welichka. She will also be dearly missed by Anne Woloszyn. Olga was born in Rosa, MB on May 2, 1923. She came to Winnipeg in her late teens and met and married Nick. They made their home in West Kildonan on Enniskillen Avenue where they lived for many years. After Nick's passing in 1993 she moved to an apartment on Aikins Street. She was employed with the Federal Government, Supply and Services Department in the printing unit which she loved very much. She loved to travel and went on many tours to the Holy Land, Lourdes, Fatima, Rome, Greece, Paris, Germany, Hong Kong, Japan, Australia, New Zealand. While in Ukraine, she travelled to her parents' birthplace and visited her father's family. She went to Bermuda for her nephew Alan's wedding. She also visited California, Hawaii and Tijuana, MX. Olga enjoyed cooking, baking, sewing, embroidery, needlepoint, petit point, knitting, crocheting, and in her later years she spent time reading and doing puzzles. Olga was a long-time member of St. Joseph's Ukrainian Catholic Church and the Ukrainian Catholic Women's League. She loved to participate in all the parish events and was always there to help. Olga will always be remembered as a loving, cheerful, understanding person who always had patience and compassion towards everyone. She will forever be in our hearts. The family would like to thank the nursing staff on floors 4 and 5 and Dr. Panaskewich at the Seven Oaks General Hospital for their empathetic care. Prayers will be held on December 29 at 7:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel. Funeral Liturgy will be held on Tuesday, December 30 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph's Ukrainian Catholic Church, 250 Jefferson Avenue. VICHNAYA PAM'YAT ETERNAL MEMORY 204-586-8044
