NETTIE TURTON (nee UNRAU) With great sadness and heavy hearts we announce the peaceful passing of Nettie at Tuxedo Villa Personal Care Home on December 20, 2014; beloved mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, auntie and friend. She will be lovingly remembered by her children; Leonard, Dempster (Carol) and Valerie; her siblings Justina, Sara, Bill, Elizabeth and Anna; six grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren. She is predeceased by her husband William A.V. Turton, her parents Isbrand and Maria Unrau, her sister Mary, brothers: Cornelius, Diedrich, Henry and John; son-in-law Paul Dumonceau. She was born in 1924 at Lowe Farm, MB. She helped her parents raise her other siblings and helped with chores around the farm. She eventually moved to Winnipeg. She met William and they married on July 3, 1954 and raised their family. Family has always been first and foremost to Nettie. She enjoyed every special occasion and looked forward to any opportunity she could to spend with family and friends. Nettie had a great deal of love and affection for her siblings and loved time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also loved animals and had fond memories of a little poodle named Josh. She was a very talented baker and cook; and was especially famous for her homemade buns. No one ever left her home hungry. The family would like to give a sincere thank you to the staff at Tuxedo Villa especially Station 2 for the kindness and caring towards Nettie during her time with them. A very special thank you to her roommate Mary Miller, her friendship and companionship was appreciated by Nettie and deeply appreciated by her family. A service will be held Tuesday, December 30, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Nettie's memory to The Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba or the Winnipeg Humane Society. She will be sadly missed but forever in our hearts. www.chapellawn.ca 885-9715
