IRENE MUNRO (nee GATE) Irene was the last of her generation. She always said it was so hard to say good bye to each of her brothers and sisters. You see, family was so precious and important to her. She was the youngest girl in a family of 11. She treasured all her brothers and sisters and their children. Irene also cherished her friends. She was a warm and loving person who always looked for the bright side of life. She had an impish sense of humour which she passed down to her grandson. Her family expanded when she married Leslie, whom she loved dearly. They had one daughter, Judy who brought a son-in-law, Henry into the family. They were a close knit group made closer by two grandchildren, Dean and Joanne. Irene was always there with support and encouragement. They say love grows the more you can share and this was true with Irene. When Dean married Jennifer and they gave her Ryan and Brad, great-grandsons, she loved them all so much. Irene and her granddaughter Joanne had a very special relationship. When Joanne brought Kelly into the family she loved him too. Mom also had special friends. She had life long friends and new friends but each played a special part in her life and gave her great joy. Her so called "sewing group" got together for many, many years. There were friends from the skating days of her youth to recent ones and they were all important to her. Irene was born in Winnipeg in 1911 on the family homestead. She lived 103 and a half years with grace and dignity showing love to all. She was a great role model and an even better wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. We will miss her but she left us with wonderful memories. Friends and family are invited to a memorial reception on Monday, December 29, 2014 at 2:30 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue.
