LINDSAY ALEXANDER TAIT
Date of Passing: Dec 26, 2014
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryLINDSAY ALEXANDER TAIT Lindsay, beloved husband, brother and uncle passed away December 26, 2014 at the age of 69 years, with his brother at his side. He is survived by his wife Karen, brother Leland (Tan) and family, brothers and sisters-in- law, Thelma in Quebec, Thelma in Washington, Ruth in Calgary, Carl and Pauline, Pat and Ron, Tom and Darlene, Joe, Diane and Guenter of Winnipeg, numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and their families and his god-daughter. He was predeceased by his parents Alex in 1991 and Violet in 2008, parents-in-law Betty Miller in 1990 and Fred Miller in l996, sister Vivien in 2011, brothers-in-law Jim in 1990, Ray in 1991, Bob in 2001 and Sonny in 2009. Lindsay was born in Chatfield, MB and moved to Winnipeg with his family as a young boy. His older sister Vivien and younger brother Leland meant everything to him. With the move to Winnipeg, he became involved in basketball, volleyball, baseball, football and hockey. St. Andrew's United Church in the area, Victoria Albert and Hugh John MacDonald Schools played a big part in these activities. For all who knew Lindsay, understood his passion for sports, whether it was playing, watching or coaching. His accomplishments were many. He was so dedicated and committed - give it your all and never give up. He devoted 38 years coaching hockey in St. James while at the same time playing baseball in the summer months. He cherished the friendships he made through those years and it was a tough decision to "retire" some years ago when he felt he could not give it his all anymore. Lindsay worked for TS Simms for 25 years and K Tel International for 10 years. Every morning before work there was a gang that met at the Sals on Roseberry for coffee. After retiring, he split his time between the Roseberry and Parkdale Sals as well as the Westwood Tim Hortons. Lindsay was a considerate, fair and generous soul who always listened carefully to other people. Whatever your interests were, he had time to listen. Family meant so much to him. Spending time with them and helping them whenever he could gave him great pleasure. He loved being a part of it all, the new babies being born, the socials and weddings, so many good times. Lindsay and I were married 45 years and if memories ease the pain of my loss, I have many from which to choose. He was my voice of reason and I will miss him greatly. Many thanks to the staff at Grace Hospital who looked after Lindsay during his time there when he was doing his best to never give up and give it his all to get better and come home. Cremation has taken place. At his request, there will be no service, however a private interment will take place, in the spring. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice. Always loved, Never forgotten, Forever missed. NEIL BARDAL FUNERAL CENTRE 204-949-2200 neilbardalinc.com

After many years, I closed the loop and returned to Winnipeg, where I caught up with several who knew Lindsay & Karen - Algi Kaslauskas, Roger Homenick, Tom Skutnik … They advised that Lindsay had passed away. Having read the authentic and deep-seated comments, I am not surprised as the brief early years accurately reflected the kind of human being he became. Even as a teen-ager he opened his arms rather than clench his fists, accepted rather than rejected. He was someone of whom it can be said - and a chorus of applause would follow - He was a fine boy! - Posted by: John J Friesen (Acquaintance/Friend from Hugh John McDonald Days ... ) on: Oct 09, 2019

Couldn't have met a kinder or more gentle a man who's heart was in teaching/ coaching hockey and life at the same time. I was fortunate to have him as a coach when I was 15 and then later in the first few years of junior. Lindsay could express his feelings towards you with just a look and a smirk and you knew exactly what he meant. I'm sad to hear he's passed on, but on reflection of those days gone by I can't help but smile knowing I was lucky enough to have been a part of his life. My condolences go out to his family. - Posted by: Shaun English (Former player coached by Lindsay) on: Jan 09, 2015

My love and wishes sent to auntie Karen and family in this challenging time. Uncle Lindsay was my light house...strength and light when lost... not just for me but the countless people he touched through his life. He cherished us all individually, without judgement, just with pure love and spirit. I'll miss his gestures, sneaking candy or change into the hands of our babies...sitting on his knee..his laugh. There is a lot we will miss but none will be forgotten. Love you uncle. Rest well - until we meet again. - Posted by: Diana Palmerton ( niece) on: Jan 06, 2015
