IDA ATKINSON (nee SPROULE) It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Ida Atkinson one month short of her 92nd birthday with her daughter Karen by her side on Friday, December 26, 2014. Ida will be lovingly remembered by her daughter Karen, grandchildren Jeremy and Catherine, numerous nieces and nephew and many friends she made over the years. She was predeceased by her husband Alex (2003), son Ricky (1955) and an infant son (1947). Ida was born in Brandon, Manitoba on January 18, 1923. She met her husband Alex there and they married in 1943. They were together for 60 years before his passing in 2003. Ida and Alex were actively involved in activates at Lake Manitoba Estates for many years. They planned community activities and spent many hours in their gardens. Ida touched hundreds of lives and everyone she met became a friend. She was a very special person to many, especially children. She will forever be remembered as "Auntie Ida" by those she leaves behind. A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, January 2 at 10:00 a.m. at Thomson "In the Park" Funeral Home, 1291 McGillivray Boulevard. Interment will follow at Brookside Cemetery, 3001 Notre Dame Avenue. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Children's Wish Foundation of Canada.
