LESLIE ALLAN EDGE It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of our Dad and Grandfather Leslie Allan Edge on December 24, 2014, at the age of 89. Les was born and raised in Birch Hills, Saskatchewan where he later moved to Moosejaw to pursue his schooling in a career of Electronics and Radio Control which led to his employment with the Department of Transport at the Saskatoon Airport. Les joined the Reserve Air Force as a Radio Controller during the end of the Second World War, it was a good thing he didn't get to be called to active duty as soon after the war he met and married his wife Melba and together they started their family in Saskatoon. Les's interest in Air Travel took him to many an Airport including Resolute Bay which he had fond memories of. He was an avid fan of the outdoors and took up fishing and hunting which was his absolute passion. He eventually retired in Winnipeg, where he was able to further his enthusiasm and love of his outdoor hobbies which included regular excursions for Seniors over 55. Dad was predeceased by his parents, Edward and Eliza Edge, as well as his wife Melba and Son Keith. He is survived by his sons, Don (Wendy), Bruce (Sheri), granddaughters, Tracy (Phil), Tara (Erik) and great-grandchildren, Jordyn and Phillip III. Les was an active member of ANAF 283, 55 Plus Seniors Club (planned, organized Bus Excursions), Scottish Rite of Freemasonry (Treasurer), as well as St. Joe's Wildlife Association (Treasurer). Services will be held Saturday, January 3, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens, 4000 Portage Avenue. Interment and reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, we ask you to please donate to your favourite charity in Memory of Les Edge. For those who wish to sign the online Guest Book please visit our website. www.chapellawn.ca 885-9715

Condolences & Memories (2 entries)

  • Bruce and family. It has been many years since your father (Les) and I chatted, but some wonderful memories linger. Your dad brought me into one of the world's finest fraternities, ie the Masons - he was my sponsor and mentor, back in the '70s. If you recall, we enjoyed some great family fishing trips, Les and I both enjoyed moose hunting..when living in Thunder Bay. Both your mom and dad were great people to be around. It was indeed an honour that our careers crossed so that we could continue our friendship with such an honourable, friendly couple. Linda & I valued their friendship. • Sorry we did not visit often. Talked to my mom (Ila) about uncle Les just on christmas day - at this point we were not aware of his passing. - Posted by: Michael Edge (Nefew - Some on brother Melvin Samuel Edge) on: Dec 31, 2014
