Condolences & Memories (10 entries)

  • Rod Oh, I'd rather go and wander where the diamond crescent's glowing And run across the valley, beneath the sacred mountain And wander through the forest, where the trees have leaves of prisms that break the light in colors that no one knows the name of. I hope this is where you are. Miss you Jeanna - Posted by: Jeanna Mclellan-Safruik (sister) on: Mar 27, 2015

  • It is sad to hear of Rod's passing. I had the privilege of working with Rod for a number of years and through him I met his sister Jean and other family members. He was great to work with, have a beer with and he always laughed. He always said that there was another life once you retire but unfortunately his ended far too soon. Rest in peace good friend. • The greatest gift of life is friendship; and we have received it…. In loving memories of one of our pickin’ and grinnin’ friends close to our heart; we send our sincerest condolences to Angie, Ken and family. As we go down memory lane, we think about the Pickin’ and Grinnin’ Saturday evenings in the Calgary Rundle neighborhood and the Blue Rock winter weekends many years ago, where the tunes were enjoyed by all and the rum was not too bad either! Rod we will never forget your grinnin’; whether on a hike in the mountains, delivering a guard on the eighth end, or sharing one of your favorite tunes. Thank you, Jeanna for introducing us to Rod, a beautiful gentle soul that had touched us in so many ways. A smile that will never be forgotten! • Dear Angie, Ken and families. So sorry to hear of your Dad's passing, your dad and I had many memorable moments working at Hillier Papers and Intercity Papers. We sang many songs together and had great times. Angie, you might remember when we visited your dad in Calgary and went to the mountains and encountered the wild goats. I am sure that he will be sadly missed by all. He was a great guy. Fondly remembered by Bill Culbert and family. - Posted by: Bill and Jackie culbert (Business friend) on: Jan 02, 2015

  • Thanks for being the coolest teacher in my life big brother. My world will be a lot less cool without a Bluesman like you in it. I'll remember you every time I go fishing or hunting. - Posted by: Bruce Mclellan (Brother) on: Dec 31, 2014

  • Having known Rod and his family my (Craig) whole life, this comes as very sad news. Rod was an accomplished guitarist who turned me on to Bob Dylan and Johnny Cash back in the late 60s when I was just learning how to play the guitar. Vee Gee and I have many fond memories of Rod and his family over the years. Although Rod moved to Calgary for greener pastures many years ago and we didn't see him much, we thought of him often. RIP Rod and thanks for the inspiration and friendship. Condolences to the family. - Posted by: Craig & Vee Gee Vallance (Friends) on: Dec 31, 2014
