VIOLET DE LA WYCHE
Born: Apr 22, 1918
Date of Passing: Dec 23, 2014
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryVIOLET DE LA WYCHE It is with great sadness we announce the sudden passing of our dear "Little Vi", mom, granny, great-grandma, aunt, and caring friend to many, at the wonderful age of 96 on December 23, 2014. Mom was born on April 22, 1918, to James and Agnes Cowie. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Russell, an infant son and her sister, Martha. Mom will be forever loved and sadly missed by her daughters Muriel, Betty (Ernie) Dmytriw, Barb (Dave) Robertson, Margaret (Ron) Howarth; her beloved grandchildren Brooke (Matt), Kristen, Kim (Levi), Trevor, Tyler, Kyle (Teresa), and her special great-granddaughters Allison and Alayna, as well as nieces, nephews and many extended family members. Mom spent her last 10 years at Riverside Lions Estates, where she enjoyed life to the fullest with all her good friends and neighbours. Her passions were her family and baking her famous Scottish shortbread and butter tarts. Up until two weeks ago, she had completed the Christmas baking for all her family members and friends. The family would like to thank Mom's friends and her home care workers at Riverside Lions for taking such good care of her. A Celebration of Mom's Life will be held on Saturday, January 3, 2015 at 2:00 p.m., at the Riverside Lions Estates, 188 Worthington Ave., St. Vital. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the M.S. Society of Manitoba and to the Children's Hospital Research Foundation.

So sad to hear about the passing of your mom. Have many memories of being in your house on Banning Street and of all you girls. I think your mom is the last of the Banning Street "ladies" to go, and know how much the loss will mean to all of you. With the weather forecast for tomorrow I do not think I will be driving in from Gimli for the service, but I will be thinking of you all. - Posted by: Isabel (Morton) Peterson (Friend and Neighbour) on: Jan 02, 2015

I am saddened to read of Vi's death. I shared a hospital room with Vi for a week - a number of years back. She touched me and my family - with her optimism, her faith, and her gentle soul. She was loved by so many - the visitors and phone calls never stopped! I will remember her as a loving and caring lady who touched many lives. - Posted by: Anne Roberts (Friend) on: Jan 02, 2015

So sorry Barb and family to hear of your mom's passing, especially at this time of year. I only met your Mom a few times (usually at a Christmas craft show) and she was such a lovely person. Cherish your memories of her. - Posted by: Deb and Bruce Johnson (friend of family member) on: Jan 01, 2015

Violet and her sister Martha were my Mom's best friends in Kane, Mb. Tillie kept in contact with Violet by phone until her passing in April 2013. In May/13, Ricki and I visited with Violet at her residence, she insisted we stay for "tea and cookies", we had a lovely visit, we talked about Violet and Martha's life in Kane. We left her the Kane history book to view, again, many memories of the 'trio' popped up. She showed us many pictures of her family. Our thoughts are with you and your families at this time.
