BARBARA ELAINE CHESLEY (nee LEWIS) 1945 - 2014 On December 29, 2014, at the Selkirk General Hospital, Barbara Chesley, aged 69 years of Petersfield, MB, beloved wife of Larry lost her courageous battle with cancer. Barbara was predeceased by her parents Leslie and Esther Lewis, and her daughter Laurel. She will be lovingly remembered by her husband Larry; daughter Lynn (Greg) Parr and sister Audrey (Bob) Corrie. She also adored her grandchildren Nickayla, Dayne, Shelby and Colten; niece Shelly (Nelson), and nephew Brent (Pam). She was born in St. James, in Winnipeg and this is where she attended school. She later met and married the love of her life Larry in 1964, recently celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary. Barb moved to Petersfield, where she and Larry ran Chesley's Resort for 31 years. Barbara's favourite place was their retirement home that they built on Wavey Creek in Petersfield. Their love of water also took them to Florida where they spent the winter months. Prior to being diagnosed with cancer in June of 2012, she lived life fully with many trips and cruises. She loved boating, gardening, playing cards and correcting Larry. Barbara was meticulous in every aspect with a keen memory for detail, she had an amazing sense of humour which was somewhat warped. Mom always made people laugh, had lots of love, and everyone knew exactly where she stood! We would like to thank Doctors Demsas and Lindenschmidt, the doctors at Winnipeg CancerCare and the nurses at the Selkirk CancerCare for their compassion and kindness while Barb was in their care. In keeping with Barbara's wishes, cremation has taken place and interment will follow when the grass is green and flowers are in bloom. In lieu of flowers, if desired, donations can be made to CancerCare Manitoba, 675 McDermot Avenue, Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9. You have been the best wife, mother and friend. We love you! You will be greatly missed, but never forgotten. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements. www.gilbartfuneralhome.com

Our thoughts are with you at this sad time Larry, I had so many wonderful memories as a child at Camp Chesley. Staying at your place in the dead of winter with those fantastic Ice fishing derby's. Barb was always so kind to us kids, it will always be treasured! John - Posted by: John and Laurie Kuivenhoven (friend) on: Jan 03, 2015
