JIRI (GEORGE) TYC August 9, 1913 - December 24, 2014 It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of our dad on Christmas Eve. Left to cherish his memory is his wife Margita, of 75 years, his children George (Mary), Zdenek (Zorka) and Marketa, his five grandsons George (Brenda), Richard (Marci), David, Martin (Michele), Danny (Jacqueline), 10 great-grandchildren, and many friends he made throughout his life. Dad was born in Morina, Czech Republic to Vaclav and Marie Tyc the youngest of four children and had a long career as a professor of economy. At age of 65 he emigrated to Canada with his wife to join his children George and Marketa. His son Zdenek lives in Australia, where they visited him several times. While most people are preparing to retire at the age of 65 our remarkable father began building a new life, and he with his wife never looked back. He was forever grateful to Canada for providing him and his children with this opportunity. Dad was a caring and gentle man. Never judgemental and always supportive. He was a firm believer in education and extremely proud of us in all our accomplishments. His biggest love in life was his wife, who he cherished and loved to his last breath. Always an independent and active man who enjoyed working in his vegetable garden and was even shovelling his own driveway at the age of 98. He enjoyed sports and always encouraged us to participate and maintain an active life. Dad we thank you for your love and guidance and for being an exceptional role model to all of us. We are proud to have you as our father. You will forever be in our thoughts and our hearts. A celebration of Jiri's life will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, January 5, 2015 at Glen Lawn Funeral Home, 455 Lagimodiere Blvd. Interment will take place at a later date at Glen Lawn Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations in his name can be made to a charity of your choice. Family and friends may sign a Book of Condolence at www.glenlawn.ca Glen Lawn Funeral Home 204-982-7550
