REMEDIOS T. PLANAS September 6, 1948 December 31, 2014 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother and grandmother Remedios "Mama Iyay" "Nene" Planas, on December 31 at age 66. She was also known as "Remy" to her friends and colleagues. Remy was born on September 6, 1948, in Manila, Philippines. She and her family moved to Winnipeg, Manitoba on September, 1994. She worked at Cora's Tailoring, Midwest Garments, Extended Care Tuxedo Villa and Misericordia Health Centre - Urgent Care. Remy was predeceased by her husband Joseph, her parents, Magdalena dela Paz and Genaro and Salvacion Taguimacon, and also her brother Jesus Taguimacon. Mama Iyay is survived by her son Jojo Planas (Aireen), her daughter Olet LaRocque (Dana) of Massachusetts; grandchildren Jay, Pia, Jana, Mia, and their beloved pet, Ash; sister Honor Alegado (Dr. Eli) of Toronto, sister Ludy Cometa (George) of Connecticut. Cynthia (Dan) of Vancouver, and sister-in-law Espie of Philippines. Several relatives, nieces and nephews in Canada, U.S. and the Philippines. The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at the Health Sciences Centre for their wonderful care for our mother. Viewing (Lamay) will be held Tuesday, January 6, 2015, commencing at 6:00 p.m. at Mosaic Funeral Chapel., 1839 Inkster Blvd. Winnipeg, MB. Mass of the Resurrection will celebrated on Wednesday, January 7, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. from St. Peter's Roman Catholic Church, 748 Keewatin Street, Winnipeg, MB. Cremation to follow the mass with interment in Assumption Roman Catholic Cemetery, 3990 Portage Ave. Winnipeg, MB.
