MAGGIE RAFFAEL STAATZ (DEL PLACENTINE) Peacefully, with her family in her heart, Mom took in a little breath and let it go. Maggie was born in Winnipeg May 4, 1930, and lived most of her life here with the exception of a few years in Flin Flon, where she began her schooling. On the families return to Winnipeg she completed her education at Isaac Newton High School. After looking for a career, she worked at Federal Grain, where she met her future husband and soul mate Bob. They married in 1954, and began a lifelong partnership with love and deep respect for one another. They were blessed with two children, Jeff in 1960, and Becky in 1962. Mom was predeceased by her parents, brother Jack, sister Hope Sheppard, Faith Kling, son Jeff, and husband Bob. Surviving her is daughter Becky, who gave her much laughter, love, and the will to go on with her life. Pete, her #2 son, granddaughters Brittany (Edwin), and Amy (Cam), great-granddaughter Sophia, brother-in-law Ron (Merlene), sisters-in-law Doreen and Evelyn, as well as many nieces and nephews. Mom was the backbone of our family, as tiny as she was, and because of her our family is full of love, kindness, and strength. One of her favourite things was going to CanadInns with her longtime friends, Irene Molyneuw and Elaine and Jack Reid to have the all you can eat bowl of soup and coffee. In her last two years she lived at Richmond Gardens where she made great new friends and brought joy to all she met. "This life for me has truly passed I've loved you to the very last Weep not for me But for courage take And love each other for my sake" Love Mom & Grandy Cremation has taken place, and a private family interment will be held. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. If so desired, memorial contributions may be made to Siloam Mission. Night night Mom I love you

Condolences & Memories (7 entries)

  • Del was one of nine OYB's - a group of girls in high school who banded together and kept in touch for over 68 years, linking up for hysterical lunches (usually in The Bay) whenever the out of towners came to Wpg. Del was always the life of the party - she saw the humour in every situation - and she was so caring. Tiny and terrific. It was good to have known her. - Posted by: Corinne Langston (a loving OYB friend) on: Feb 06, 2015

  • She was SUCH a little darling, and the best 'dinner-date' EVER..! she will be missed. - Posted by: Terry W. ((friend)) on: Jan 09, 2015

  • Becky and Family, I was saddened to hear about "Aunty Del". Your mom was a special lady, who I will fondly remember as always being so up beat! Your mom and dad (my godfather) have been a special part of my life. May you hold fond memories of them both, close to your heart. My thoughts and prayers are with you. With hugs from Lethbridge, Teresa and Doug - Posted by: Teresa And Doug Petriw (Friend ) on: Jan 08, 2015

  • A warm and loving tribute for a woman who lit up every room she walked into. Maggie always made one feel just a little bit happier and grateful for events with family and friends! Rest, gentle lady! - Posted by: Enid Botchett (Friend) on: Jan 05, 2015

  • Becky & family, I am saddened to hear of Maggie's passing. Maggie & Bob (Godfather) were always special to me & mom. Their visits on my birthdays were very special to me. Maggie will always be in my heart. Maggie is on her journey to join her loving husband, Bob & son, Jeff, whom she loved very much. Rest well, Maggie. Becky, I'll be thinking of you, but know you will be fine with Pete, Brittany, Amy & GD- Sphia! Love & take care, your cousin, Robert - Posted by: Robert Mohr (Cousin) on: Jan 05, 2015

  • When I met Maggie I thought she was very soft spoken and funny. I met her through my husband Georg, their children were cousins of ours. Sad to lose someone who is so dear to the family.
