Date of Passing: Dec 31, 2014
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJACK VAN DAM May 25, 1932 - December 31, 2014 Jack van Dam passed away on the morning of December 31, 2014 in the arms of his beloved wife, Olga. He is survived by his wife Olga, son Thomas (Suzanne) van Dam, daughters Birgit (Matt) Lavallee and Heidi (Kurt) Nielsen, as well as his grandchildren Kristin Nielsen, Brayden and Emily Lavallee, and Rowan van Dam. Jack will also be missed by extended family as well as his friends. While Jack loved to travel, his biggest joy was to just sit at home with Olga, listening to good music and eating good food. He was also a voracious reader, always educating himself by keeping up-to-date on current events and taking a variety of courses ranging from management to mechanics. Learning was a hobby and a joy. A memorial reception celebrating Jack's life will be held at Thomson "In the Park" Funeral Home, 1291 McGillivray Boulevard on Wednesday, January 7, 2015 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. with formal speaking at 2:30 p.m. The family would like to extend sincere thanks to the staff at Palliative Care and CancerCare for their support and compassion. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in his memory to a charity of one's choice. THOMSON "IN THE PARK" 204-925-1120 Condolences may be sent to www.thomsoninthepark.com

I remember Jack and my Stepfather Henry Duys having the times of their lives when they where together. The funniest memory is Jack was leaning back in one of our dining room chairs having a great conversation and proceeded to fall through our screen door. Never forgot how everyone laughed. That seemed to be the thing, we always laughed when he was around. He will be missed. Even though I personally haven't seen him in years, I will always remember him. Prayers to Olga and the whole family. - Posted by: Jacqueline Nauta (Family Friend ) on: Jan 08, 2015

Jack really was a great guy and a firm believer in learning. He became a mentor for me and made continuous education a big part of my life. I will miss our professional and personal relationship. - Posted by: Doug Brisson () on: Jan 07, 2015

We worked for the same company (different divisions). My wife Pearl and myself offer our deepest condolences at this time. - Posted by: Bob Sudak (co-worker and friend at Jostens) on: Jan 06, 2015
