OLGA MARCENIUK July 19, 1922 - January 3, 2015 We sadly announce the passing of our mother, Olga Marceniuk, at age 92. She will be sadly missed by her children, Beverley (Ron), Shirley, Darlene, and Barry; ten grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and by many relatives and friends, all who cared for her dearly. She was predeceased by her husband, Michael; parents Wasyl and Antonia Skrynyk; brothers Nick and Peter; and sisters Mary and Pauline. Born in Slater, MB, Olga quickly grew into a young woman with a quick wit and stamina that never let her give up traits that served her well as she fought devastating illness in her later years. She loved caring for her children, inspiring them to reach high and give back in life. Olga opened her home often to extended family, who remember her fondly for her unfailing sense of humour and the ease with which she could cook for two or 20. She was a talented needleworker, and her work lives on in the homes of her grateful children and grandchildren. Never one to avoid a challenge, Olga became a hairdresser in her early 40s, and went on to run a successful business for over 20 years. She was an avid walker while living at Holy Family Home, where she frequently brought a smile to staff and visitors as she would stop along her route and offer to cut or style their hair. Olga's family is very grateful for the kind care of Dr. Connelly, nurses, and staff at Holy Family Home. A private Memorial Service will be held at a later date. Donations made to the charity of your choice would please the family. Condolences & Memories (5 entries)

  • I met Olga when she lived at Dakota House. What a sweet lady. She reminded me of my grandma. Her needlepoint work was amazing and we had many a chat when she stopped by the desk. Miss you Olga! - Posted by: sheila selluski () on: Jan 19, 2015

  • It is with great sadness that I hear of your death Aunt Olga. Many fond memories and good times our family spent with you and your family. You opened your door to our family and put up with us and as a kid never realized how much of a sacrifice you were making. You were kind and overly generous and I will always remember you for the great person you were. My sympathies to all the family. Love Linda - Posted by: Linda Hryciuk White (Niece) on: Jan 14, 2015

  • Olga cut my mother's hair for years! As a teenager I met Olga late one night as I rummaged through her fridge for a late night snack. As we never met I gave her quite a shock when she found me with the pickles, cheese and kielbasa. Thereafter her fridge, and her home, were always open to me. She was quite the lady and will be dearly missed by my family. My heartfelt sympathy goes out to her family who I know are struggling with the loss. • Auntie Olga was a good friend of my parents (Lena and Joe Tycholis) and we all (as the two families) spent many enjoyable times together. Later on I ended up working for her as a hairdresser (in training). I so enjoyed her as a boss and as an honorary Aunt. I know she will be missed by all of you, she was a wonderful lady. Sincerely, with sympathy, Florence - Posted by: Florence (Tycholis) Semeniuk () on: Jan 11, 2015

  • Darlene, my sincere sympathy in regard to the loss of your mother. May happier memories of life together, and life lessons taught and learned, bring you comfort at this sad time. With many kind thoughts going your way, George. - Posted by: George Walkey () on: Jan 09, 2015
