HERTHA EDNA CAMPBELL (GALL) April 11, 1925 - January 3, 2015 It is with great sorrow that we announce the loss of our beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Hertha passed away suddenly at Fred Douglas Lodge, Winnipeg, at the age of 89. She was born in Green Valley, Wisconsin, the oldest daughter of Robert and Elsa (nee Hirsch) Gall. They moved to Moosehorn, Manitoba in 1930. Hertha grew up helping her parents and siblings on the family farm in Moosehorn. Hertha met Russell Campbell while she was working in Island Lake and they were married at St. Thomas Lutheran Church in Bayton, Manitoba on September 9, 1950. Russell got a job with Manitoba Hydro and they moved to Eriksdale, Manitoba where they lived until Russell passed away on September 28, 1991. Hertha and Russell loved hosting parties at their cabin at Lundar Beach and huge family gatherings at their home in Eriksdale. Visitors could always count on two things in Hertha's home, a warm welcome and good food cooking. Hertha was also very involved in the community, volunteering her time at the Legion Ladies' Auxiliary, with the Eastern Star and in the Church. She had a very strong faith and was very active in the Eriksdale United Church, helping out with church raffles and singing in the choir. Hertha loved to sing, whether it was in the choir or at gatherings at Lundar Beach. In 1994, Hertha developed a close friendship with Richard Henry, which continued until Richard's death on May 4, 2008. Together Hertha and Richard crossed Canada from coast to coast and even cruised to Alaska. But Hertha's greatest love was her family. She was devoted to her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Whenever they came over, her grandchildren and great-grandchildren always knew there would be special treats waiting for them. Hertha's family truly knew what it was like to be loved. In December of 2013, Hertha moved into Winnipeg to be closer to her children and grandchildren, first to an apartment in North Kildonan and eventually to Fred Douglas Lodge. Hertha was predeceased by her brother Arnold Gall, and sister Hilda Bittner. She leaves to mourn her son Brian (Janet) and daughter Susan (Scott), granddaughters Tracey (Ronnie) and Tania, great-granddaughters Lilandra, Raven and Shianna, great-grandson Dominic, her sisters Leona (Willie) Yankie and Helen (Bill) Jaehrlich, and brothers Herman (Myrtle) Gall and Roy (Bev) Gall, along with many nieces, nephews and friends. The family would like to thank the staff of Fred Douglas Lodge for their wonderful care and compassion to us. In lieu of flowers, please make donations in Hertha's memory to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, 6 Donald St., Suite 200, Winnipeg, MB R3L 0K6 or the Eriksdale Community Club, PO Box 320, Eriksdale, MB R0C 0W0. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, January 9, 2015 at the Eriksdale Recreation Centre with Rev. Dr. Paul Peters Derry officiating. Interment to follow in the Eriksdale Municipal Cemetery. Arrangements by: ARNASON FUNERAL HOME Ashern - Lundar 1-204-768-2072 1-866-323-3593

Whenever our Canadian relatives would come to the States or we would go to Canada, there was much celebrating!
