He was predeceased by his parents, William and Anne; wife, Connie and sons, Brian and William. Sidney was born in Caliento, Manitoba and attended Schevchenko School in Vita, before moving to Winnipeg in 1950 where he attended United College. • Sid was one of the good ones, he was my hockey coach and took me aside and taught me how to do a wrist shot properly. I'm sure I frustrated him because I was at the age where I knew everything. He was not detered and I still am using what he taught me. Sorry I couldn't attend the celebration today it did not appear in the edition of the free press I got this morning, only saw it online after 3:30 Dang RIP Sid - Posted by: Bob Titley (Family Friend) on: Jan 08, 2015

  • Sid and Connie along with their boys moved in beside us, what great neighbours they were, our dog Lady would watch for them to come home, they would take her in the front door give her a piece of cheese and let her out the back door. Our sympathies to the family, Sid and Connie are together again. Bill and Joan - Posted by: Bill and Joan Mayberry (Old neighbours) on: Jan 07, 2015

  • Sid, I will miss our discussions on the Bombers, Jets, politics, Blue Jays, etc. I'll also miss the chips and onion dip, rye and Pepsi, and food enough to feed an army every time we visited you and Connie. Joyce will miss the reminiscing about relatives, Caliento, Vita, gardening, berry picking, etc. Rest in peace. - Posted by: Fred & Joyce Budzey (cousins) on: Jan 07, 2015

  • Sid was a cantankerous old Ukrainian who was so typical of his generation with a hard gruff exterior but a heart of gold, especially when it came to his family and friends. Sid enriched the lives of many a hockey and baseball player, especially those of us who grew up in Transcona. Rest in Peace Sid; you are now together again with your one true love; the woman who you walked through life with. - Posted by: Ken Muzik (friend) on: Jan 07, 2015

  • Feeling sorry for the loss of Sidney. Both Daryl and myself have you in your thoughts. - Posted by: Tammy and Daryl (family) on: Jan 07, 2015
