Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryLEON SMERECHYNSKY Peacefully, on Saturday, January 3, 2015 at Seven Oaks Hospital, Leon Smerechynsky, aged 91 of Winnipeg. Leon was born August 12, 1923 in the village Davydkivtsi in Ukraine and came to Canada at the age of 25. He resided in Winnipeg for 60 years and he and his wife Stephania had one daughter, Diane. Leon had a long career working for Seven Oaks School Division as a custodian and was happily retired for many years. He developed many good friendships within the community and enjoyed an active social life. Leon was a strong supporter of the local churches and charities. In the last few years, he became a wonderful father for his niece Mariya and her son Ivan. Leon was predeceased by his wife Stephania and will be dearly missed by his nephews, Roman and Robert and nieces, Mary, Mariya, Lidia, Oksana, Olga, Evhenia and Lida. Prayers will be sung 7:00 p.m. Thursday, January 8 at Korban Funeral Chapel, 907 Main St. Divine Liturgy will be celebrated 10:00 a.m. Friday, January 9 at St. Andrew's Ukrainian Catholic Church, 160 Euclid Avenue with Rev. L. Ratushniak, C.Ss.R. officiating. Entombment will follow in All Saints Cemetery. KORBAN FUNERAL CHAPEL 204-956-2193

Diane and family, our deepest condolences on the passing of your father. He will always be remembered for his quick wit and everlasting smile. Wujko Lewko as we referred to him from the time we came to Canada, was someone my brothers and I always looked up to. He had the nicest blue convertible in the early 60's and we often had occasions to get rides in the car.
