LILLIAN BANNISH (nee REBIZANT) November 11, 1932 - January 6, 2015 It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Lillian on January 6, 2015 at the Selkirk Hospital at the age of 82. Lillian will be sadly missed by her children, Christine, Valerie (Dale) and Jennifer (David), grandchildren Garrett (Heather), Kelsey (Dustin) and Erin (Kelly), Andrew, Evan, Owen, and great-grandchildren Alexis and Reese. She is survived by her sister Marjorie Williamson. Lillian was predeceased by her husband Fred, her parents Stephen and Anna Rebizant, sisters Helen, Emily and Stella, and brothers Julian and Ted. Mom was born in Melrose, Manitoba on November 11, 1932 and went to school until Grade 8. Lillian worked in sewing factories and also went east for a while to work in the Shaffer pen factory in Ontario. But the lure of the prairies, home and a handsome young man was too strong to stay away. Lillian and Fred Bannish were married in 1953 and resided in the Cooks Creek area. Mom continued to live in the family home after Dad's passing in 1980. After getting her GED, Mom and her sister Marjorie went to school together again in 1980 and became Licensed Practical Nurses. Mom was a nurse at East Gate Lodge in Beausejour until she retired in 1987. Besides spending lots of time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Lillian loved to attend aquacize classes at Transcona Pool and chair yoga. She loved to feed the birds in her yard and spent many hours puttering about her garden and yard. Until her admission to hospital, Lillian was still driving around to the bank, stores and visiting her friends. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 10, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Michael's Roman Catholic Church in Cooks Creek with Father Joseph Tran presiding. Interment will follow at the parish cemetery. Pallbearers will be Garrett Fetterly, Len Fetterly, Ted Rebizant, Stephen Rebizant, Kelly Thompson and Dale Bannish. Honorary pallbearers will be her grandchildren. The family wishes to express their deepest gratitude to the doctors, nurses and support staff at the Selkirk Hospital for the kind and compassionate care. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Michael's Church Building Fund or a charity of your choice. www.seasonsfunerals.ca
