ANNA WENCEK September 5, 1923 - January 5, 2015 On Monday, January 5, 2015, at Holy Family Home, Mom passed away peacefully at the age of 91. Mom was predeceased by her husband Walter on January 28, 2011. Mom is survived by her two sons Wally (Gladys) of St. Albert, AB and Joe of Winnipeg; three grandchildren, Tracy (Brian) Bandura of Turner Valley, AB, Troy (Angela) Wencek of St. Albert, AB and Terri (Chris) Sherbanuk of Edmonton, AB; six great-grandchildren Kaylie and Kenneth of Turner Valley, Ethan and Ella of St. Albert and Tyler and Madison of Edmonton. During the Second World War, Mom and Dad were both sent to Germany to work on a farm. After being liberated by the Americans, Mom and Dad spent five or six years in Belgium before immigrating to Canada in 1952 and settling in Winnipeg to raise their two sons. Mom loved gardening. She also loved to travel to see the grandkids and great-grandkids as time went on. She enjoyed trips to the Rocky Mountains, San Francisco, Lake Tahoe, Yellowstone Park and points in between. I would like to thank Anna Wolski, my mom's goddaughter for her support during the past three and a half years in coming with me to see Mom at Holy Family. A special thank you to the staff in the St. Francis Unit who made Mom feel at home. I.E. Nurses: Kathy, Marcie, Rovena and Karen, caregivers: Julie, Lyn, Alex, Irene and Teresa, and many others who looked after Mom. Rest in Peace Mom. Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated on Tuesday, January 13, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. in the St. John Cantius Roman Catholic Church at 846 Burrows Avenue. Viewing will take place half an hour prior to the Mass with Rev. Father Yolando Gamallo officiating. Interment will follow in Holy Ghost Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Anna's memory can be made to Holy Family Home.
