Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryGEORGE SAGI September 27, 1925 - January 7, 2015 It is with great sadness we announce the sudden passing of George Sagi. He is mourned by his wife Edith, of 63 years, his grandsons George (Kathleen), William (Lhen), and great-grandson Dean. George was predeceased by his beloved daughter Susan who passed away in October of 2014. George was born in Hungary and was educated there as an electronic engineer. In 1957 he moved to Canada with his wife and daughter and obtained his Master of Science degree at the University of Manitoba. George worked for the City of Winnipeg as an electronic engineer and head of the City's Communications Branch. During his career he wrote and contributed to several scientific publications. He was an active member of the Association of Professional Engineers and American Association of Traffic Engineers. George had a very creative mind that resulted in several patents. He retired from his position with the City after 30 years of dedicated service and devoted his free time to writing, with several books published. George and Edith spent many winters in Florida where they had a second home. Family and friends were always welcomed. George was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He took great pleasure in helping to raise his grandchildren. He was an extremely hard-working and passionate person who cared deeply for his family, friends and the world around him. A celebration of George's life will be held at Thomson "In the Park" Funeral Home, 1291 McGillivray Boulevard, on Wednesday, January 14 at 2:00 p.m.

My deepest sympathy to Edith and Grandchildren, George, Kathleen, Billy and Lhen. I know how much everyone loved Mr. Sagi. This is so difficult, and so soon after losing Susan. I did not know your family for very long but I was grateful for the time we spent at the hospital visiting Susan. You are all in my prayers. Sincerely Janis Ngozi, who was another coworker of Susan's, wishes you all much peace and comfort. - Posted by: Janis Chrest (Family Friend) on: Feb 03, 2015

What a beautiful tribute. It's still such a shock. To lose two precious members of your darling family - my heart aches for all of you. Such wonderful memories to cherish always! Love to all them members of your family (our extended family). xoxox I remember with fondness, many conversations I had with George about our shared love of writing. He always encouraged and inspired me. His devotion to his family was incredible, and another inspiration to me! He was such a brilliant and gentle man. - Posted by: Lisa Taylor (Close family friend) on: Jan 14, 2015

My deepest sympathy to George's family. As a child he was the one who taught me to ride a bike, not to fear the cows and dogs of our grandparents' village homes and later to survive the hardships of war and persecutions. His parents' home was always a second home to me. Memories of our youth are still dear to me. We have been thirty first cousins. Now are only four of us still alive. George of all of them was my favourite, the one always closest to me. I admired him, his limitless talent, his drive to find new solutions, new roads to recover in sciences and literature. His ambitions and drives knew no boundaries. His book, research papers decorate my shelves and are dear to me. Together with his wife and grandchildren I mourn him deeply. My deepest condolences to all of George's family and friends. I am sure that all who knew him are deeply saddened by his sudden passing. I will always remember George at all of our family gatherings in Winnipeg when I was a child and the happiness and laughter that he brought with him into every room. As his godson, I will also always remember fondly how he used to appear at our house on my birthday with special gifts and well wishes. My thoughts are with all of the the family and I know that George will be deeply missed. May your memories give you peace and comfort. RIP George. - Posted by: Michael Fejes (family friend) on: Jan 13, 2015

It is with a heavy heart that I say good-bye to George. He and his family has been part of my life since 1967, almost from the moment we landed in Canada. All these years we have been friends through the good times and the not so good ones, but this is the test of real friendship and our friendship stood the test of time. George was always there for who ever needed his generous help, either with good advice or with the labor of his hands. He was hard working and had an enormous endurance. He thought and wrote with the same untiring energy as he did the heavy-duty physical work in the garden and around the house. We laughed, we argued, we played cards and spent holidays together. The confines of a few short words don’t allow for telling of the countless hilarious adventures we had. For nine years, we had the best of times in Florida as next-door neighbors. George will always be in my heart, he will always be part of who we were and who we became through the years. OKBK George, with much love Elizabeth Stockl - Posted by: Elizabeth Stockl (Friend) on: Jan 10, 2015
