DEL MCKINNON In the early hours of January 7, 2015, Del McKinnon left her troubles behind as she departed this world for a more comfortable surrounding. For many years she has been faced with declining health. She worked hard for everything she got and she shared everything she had with her family and friends. Ardelle was born September 3, 1930, and is survived by her sister Carole of Burlington, ON, her son Norm (Pat) of Winnipeg, her granddaughter Danielle of Calgary, and her partner Saint Bob for the last several years. Del's early life was shaped by the early demise of her mother Reena and her father Jim's service to the war effort. She was raised in rural Manitoba by her aunt Katherine. She became a teacher, wife, a mother and, ultimately, a Security Analyst for the Bank of Montreal, first in Canada and then in New York in the United States. She worked in the fashion industry and as a parish accountant and retired in Kerrville, Texas, before returning to Winnipeg to be with family in later years. Her circle of friends included Ida, Marge, Hazel, Bunny, Helen and too many others to mention and finally she met Bob in her later years. Bob and Del enjoyed many years travelling between BelAir and Winnipeg and visiting "Idle Time". Rest in peace mother, you have earned your repose. Chapel Lawn www.chapellawn.ca 204-885-9715

Condolences & Memories (2 entries)

  • I knew Del McKinnon personally while she was an employee at Bank of Montreal both at the Wall Street and Park Avenue locations. She was a woman of intelligence and excellent character, she was tough and did her job in a highly professional manner, she was friendly and had a dry sense of humour, she was fair and treated all well. It is just by coincidence a co-worker shared her obituary with me this morning. I extend my warmest condolences to her family. May she rest in peace. - Posted by: Junette Maria Romero (Co-worker at Bank of Montreal in New York) on: Sep 30, 2015

  • Del was a formidable personality. Opinionated, politically aware and well-read, one always knew where he/she stood. We will always remember one particular day at Lee River where she stated her opinion in no uncertain terms. She was a character and will be missed. Norm, you had a good Mom.
