SUSAN MARGARET JOHNSON
Date of Passing: Jan 07, 2015
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemorySUSAN MARGARET JOHNSON It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Susan on January 7, 2015 at St. Boniface Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer. She will be lovingly remembered by her mother Margaret, sisters Rosalynn (George) Leighton, Lori Grapentine, brother Andy (Kim) Johnson, brother-in-law Tim (Renee) Martin, nieces and nephews Shane (Kim), Eric (Kylee), Leanne (Andrew), Kathryn, Craig (Samantha), Nicole (Andrew), Brent (Abby), Amanda and Matthew; great-nephew and niece Tyler and Jessica, as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Susan was predeceased by her father William (Bill), brother Terry, and sister Maureen. Susan was born June 22, 1947 and grew up in St. Vital. She attended Glenwood School and Glenlawn Collegiate. She worked for C.I.B.C. most of her life and finished her career with the University Medical Group where she made many friends who were very kind and supportive during her illness. Susan, also known as Auntie Suzie to her nieces and nephews, never had children but she treated them like they were her own. Auntie Suzie was the first to volunteer to babysit or help out when needed. She came out to cheer everyone on at their various extracurricular activities and always had a treat for them in hand when it was over. During her life Susan enjoyed traveling abroad with her friends and family, reading, following the Blue Bombers and the Winnipeg Jets. She was quiet and shy but would make you laugh with a funny story or an amusing one-liner. She was also the family photographer - from Super 8 film to iPhone selfies. Even though we would bellyache about getting our picture taken we now cherish all the memories that she created for us. Her greatest joy was time spent with her family. Cremation has occurred and a private family gathering will take place in the spring to honour and celebrate her life. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Susan's memory to CancerCare Manitoba Foundation, 675 McDermot Ave., Winnipeg, Manitoba, R3E 0V9.

I'm so sorry to have read of Susan's passing. She was a lovely person since I met her in the 60's. My sister Susan Peters and Susan were co-workers at the CIBC on Tache and were the best of friends for quite a few years. They had some great times together along with a few other girls I didn't really know. Susan was the maid of honor at my sister's wedding in 1971. The last time I saw her was at my sister's funeral in 1995 and she was still as nice as ever. She sent me and my family a beautiful card with some lovely words and a picture of my sister standing alone at a lake fishing which I still have. It was so very thoughtful of her. May God bless her soul and all my sympathies to you and your family. Sincerely Robert Peters - Posted by: Robert Peters (Brother of an old pal) on: Jan 20, 2015

I loved having her as a lunch partner when we worked at SBSA (through UMG). She was a quiet & shy person, but I enjoyed the lunchtime conversations. She was always pleasant and had a sense of humour. I will miss you! Rest in peace. - Posted by: Susan Walker (Friend and co-worker) on: Jan 17, 2015

I am so saddened to learn of Sue's passing. Susan was such a warm, generous and hilarious woman. I'll never forget our wonderful trips to Spain and Morocco and then onto Cuba and Hawaii in the early 70's, it was such an experience for all of us. Take care Susan, your suffering is now over and you are in God's loving arms. My sympathies and blessings to the entire Johnson family. A coworker at CIBC Main and McDermot PL Dept. Susan was dedicated, down to earth, funny one liner and also talking about her nieces and nephew's being there to give a hand. - Posted by: Barbara (Ciszewski) Halabut (CIBC coworker) on: Jan 17, 2015
