Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryREBECCA HOFER GROUETTE On Thursday, January 8, 2015, at Riverview Health Centre in Winnipeg, Becki Grouette went to Glory. She was the eighth in a family of 14. She was born on August 8, 1940, at Rosedale Colony, Eli, Manitoba, the daughter of Paul S. Hofer and Susie Maendel Hofer. She spent her childhood and young adult years in New Rosedale and Fairholme Colonies near Portage la Prairie. Becki is survived by her son Dean, her daughter-in-law Lisa, her grandchildren Sadie and Maizie, and her siblings Paul (Katie), Lena, Katie, Susie (Chris), Joe (Irene), Judy, Ann, Dave (Mary), Hannah (Ralph) and Lisa (Ed). She was predeceased by her parents, her sister Sarah, her brother Tom, and a sister Lydia who died as an infant. She will be sadly missed by her former foster children Shannon and Dylan Keesickquayash. Becki left colony life in the early 1960s and moved to Winnipeg, where she worked as a nurse for many years. Her Christian faith was central to her all her life and in recent years she found community as a member of Springs Church, Winnipeg. Her favourite scripture verse was Philippians 1:21: "for me to live is Christ and to die is gain." A wake will be held on Monday, January 12, from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Friends Funeral Service, 2146 Main Street, Winnipeg, followed by a memorial service on Wednesday, January 14 at 11:00 a.m. at Springs Church, 725 Lagimodiere Boulevard. Special thanks to devoted family members who cared for Becki at home, and to the staff of Riverview Health Centre. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Songide'ewin Program via the Winnipeg School Division Children's Heritage Fund, or Anna Hofer Education Program via the Mennonite Central Committee.

In my worst trials and tribulations, she was more than just a Christian, she was Christ Like. While others threw rocks, she came to me with open arms of love, compassion and forgiveness. Thank you for your prayers and friendship, when i needed them the most. I hope when we meet again, I will be the person that you said I would. - Posted by: Sheldon (friend) on: Apr 23, 2015

My heart goes out to Dean, Lisa anf their daughters as they mourn the loss of Becki. I have so many fond memories of times that my son Jason and I had with Dean and Becki when the boys were young. I loved Becki deaarly. She had a big heart, especially for the underprivileged. The last time I saw her was at my son Jason's wedding. She looked stunning with her closely cropped black hair and her outfit which was totally black as well. I commented to her about how smart she looked, and my husband , in a good -natured way teased her and said, "Becki I'm sure glad to see that you finally ditched the polka dots." to which Becki promptly responded by flipping her purse around to reveal the other side which was white polka dots on a black background. I guess Becki got the last laugh that time. She was totally unique and special. And now she's in heaven having the time of her life! - Posted by: Marlene Long (Friend) on: Jan 10, 2015

I think a tribute should be made far and wide like we do for socalled "famous" people because Becki was the most faithful Christian I know and influenced so many lives ! She truly walked the talk every day , which as we all know, is rare. Yes, she is in heaven with Jesus now, free and filled with joy but we are the poorer without her faithful loving presence here on earth. I am so thankful she was my dear friend ! - Posted by: Ruth Reid (Close friend) on: Jan 10, 2015
