IAN LETHAM 1931-2015 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Ian Letham on January 7, 2015, at the age of 83. Ian was predeceased by his parents Philip and Jean Letham, and grandson Blaine Letham. Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 61 years Betty; children Barbara (Ken), Janice (Art), Russell (Debbie), Joanne (Ian); grandchildren Meghan (Husseini), Dylan (Candace), Anders (Tara), David (Katie), Ashley (Derek), Cory, Amy, Julia, Lauren; and great-grandson Aiden. As an only child, Ian was very close to Betty's family and will be missed by the Kovnats, Einfeld, Petroff and Maloney families, who were all a very big part of his life. Ian was a devoted husband and full time caregiver for Betty over the past several years. He was a loving father, grandfather and great- grandfather. Ian's life was enriched by many lifelong friendships, too numerous to mention. Ian was born in Winnipeg, MB on March 21, 1931, where he lived his entire life. He enjoyed curling, reading, traveled extensively, was a long-time convenor of the amateur hockey association, and was an active member of Christ Church Anglican for many years. For over 40 years Ian's favourite summer pastime was the family cottage at Brereton Lake. He also took great enjoyment in watching his grandchildren's many activities and sporting events. Ian graduated from Daniel McIntyre Collegiate, and was employed by the Manitoba Telephone System until he retired in 1991 after 41 years of service. He kept in touch regularly with many of his coworkers after retirement. Many thanks to the staff at West Park Manor, who treated Ian with care and compassion over the past year. A memorial service will take place at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 10, 2015 at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue. Family and friends may sign a Book of Condolence at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, www.chapellawn.ca. In lieu of flowers consider a donation to a charity of your choice.
