ERIC (ERIKUR) F. THORSTEINSON Eric was born in Winnipegosis May 8, 1922. He passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on January 6, 2015, in Winnipeg. He was very grateful for his long and fulfilling life. Eric was well regarded in the electrical industry during his working life in Winnipeg, and enjoyed retirement on Vancouver Island for many years. Eric cared lovingly for Del, his wife of 57 years, until her passing in 2010. We are very thankful to the caring staff at Sturgeon Creek II, Poseidon and West Park Manor care homes, and the compassionate staff at the Grace Hospital for their kindness to our much-loved Dad. Eric will be deeply missed by his children Ellery (Maureen), Patti Lee (John), Derek (Lori), and Dallas (Cheryl). Eric was a proud grandfather to Leif (Marijana), Erica, Kai, Erin (Adam), Jeff (Lisa), Dallas, Jasmine, Scotia, and Cole, and great-grandfather to Evan, Cole, and Taylor. Our fierce, strong, brave and loving E.F.T. is gone, but the great memories will be cherished by us all forever. Eric did not want a funeral service held and we honour his wishes. The family will mourn privately, and always remember this "one-of-a-kind" man with love! Goda nott, Dad xo www.chapellawn.ca 885-9715

Condolences & Memories (7 entries)

  • I would like to offer my thanks, although posthumously, to Eric for the work he did with Edna Medd writing up the history of amateur radio in Winnipegosis. Howard Medd was one of my dad's best friends back in those days (and after) and I remember both Howard and my dad talking about Eric. I wish I had met him. - Posted by: Alistair Dennett (Son of one of Eric's childhood friends) on: Mar 23, 2019

  • My Uncle Eric was a great man who touched many people's lives. He possessed something few could ever hope for ..... "Star quality". In many ways he was even more of a mentor to me than my Dad (his brother Louis Thorsteinson). I will forever be grateful that I am his namesake. - Posted by: Eric Andrew Franklin Thorsteinson (nephew ) on: Jan 22, 2015

  • Patti Lee & family. Very sorry to hear of your dad's passing. Patti, I remember how often you spoke of your dad in recent years. It is always so difficult when our parents have to leave us but I know your memories will carry you through this difficult time. My condolences to your family. - Posted by: Sharon Werenich (Friend) on: Jan 12, 2015

  • Dear Patti, Johnny, & Kai- Sending hugs and positive energy your way. Eric was grateful for all you did for him over the years, and most certainly, felt your loving presence there Patti as you lay your head on his pillow as he took his last peaceful breath. Love to all. - Posted by: Shar Gilbert (Lee family friend) on: Jan 12, 2015

  • Derek, Lori and family. Sorry to hear of the loss of your father Derek. Our deepest condolences. Bob and Gwen Watson. Penticton.BC. - Posted by: Bob Watson (Friend) on: Jan 10, 2015
