Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryGLADYS MAY MILHAUSEN May 6, 1916 - January 4, 2015 Gladys passed away on Sunday night, January 4, 2015 after a short illness in Victoria Hospital. She was predeceased by her husband Grant (1972), son Doug (2011), her brother and two sisters. She is survived by her daughter-in-law Doreen and numerous nieces and nephews in rural Manitoba, Saskatchewan and British Columbia. Gladys was born in Coulter, MB, moved to Waskada then onto Brandon and finally Winnipeg in 1953. She moved to Sterling House Assisted Living in 2004, where she made many friends over the years. She curled for many years, winning loads of competitions, bridge and knitting were also her passions, and hundreds of mitts were knitted for charity at Sterling House. Gladys was a long-time volunteer with the Guild of Victoria Hospital from 1971 retiring in 1996. During those years she worked over 5000 hours in the Hospital Gift Shop with friend and work partner Bea Dunstone. She was an extremely talented knitter, so many babies born at the "Vic" wore those beautiful outfits home. Apart from being involved in fundraising thru the shop, she was a proud life member of the Guild for services rendered to the hospital over many years. In keeping with Gladys' wishes, cremation has taken place and a private family interment will be held at Garry Memorial Park Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Gladys to the Guild of Victoria General Hospital or to CancerCare Manitoba. Special thanks to Dr. S. Permack and staff for all their care over the years, and the Drs., nurses and staff on 4 North at the Victoria Hospital.
