Condolences & Memories (5 entries)

  • Dick & Helen had been coming to our small motel for the 20 years that I have worked for Trappers. In short they became more of our friends than just customers. We looked forward to each year in September when they came to visit us. Even after Helen passed Dick continued to make the trip. In the last few years since the "oil boom" hit North Dakota we so worried about Dick driving with the amount of crazy traffic but he always made it safely, we always asked him to call and let us know when he was leaving and call us when he arrived back home just to set our minds at ease. We so enjoyed hearing from him at Christmas. He is one of those special people that I will remember always and we will greatly miss him. My deepest condolences to his family. I know Dick and Helen are together again both smiling upon us from heaven. - Posted by: Laurie Solberg (Staff member of Trappers Inn Belfield) on: Jan 19, 2015

  • It's too long of a story to tell. But I remember it quite well. I met my pal ,he had 4 sisters as well. Much to my surprise his Dad was a cop. I new I wasn't in trouble or so I thought. Then I saw him in western wear and all was forgot. Forget about hand cuffs NUTS & BOLTS IS WHAT I WANT (oh they were good). We talked about horses and the smell of manure his boots were always polished that's for sure. We talked about tooling leather that was a favorite past time he had. Made many a belt and a couple of saddles for sure, it takes lots of time to get it just right, but when it was done there was a smile of delight. We hit it off right from the start I will miss the DUDE RIGHT FROM MY HEART. - Posted by: Russ Elliott (My best man Ricks Dad the Dude as I called him) on: Jan 15, 2015
