DOROTHY NAOMI LAIDLAW Peacefully, on Tuesday, January 13, 2015 Dorothy Naomi Laidlaw fell asleep in death at the age of 88. She is survived by her sister Mildred Devries; grandchildren Brennan, Jordan and Alia; as well as brother-in-law Ian (Betty); sister-in-law Rita, and their families. She was predeceased by her husband Alex; son Alan; parents John and Elizabeth Sulkers and sister Mary Rhymer. Dorothy's parents emigrated from Holland and settled in East St. Paul, Manitoba where they became market gardeners. She was born on January 11, 1927 and was the youngest of three daughters. At a young age she took piano lessons and she loved to play the piano even in her later years. At the age of 14 she made a dedication to her God and was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses. In 1946 Dorothy married Alexander Laidlaw and embarked on a 67 year journey together as they served their God, Jehovah. In 1949 they graduated from the 13th class of Gilead and were assigned to Uruguay. Like her husband, Dorothy was a serious student of the Bible, and enjoyed digging into the deeper things of God's Word. Together they loved to share the truths of God's Word with others, including the Bible's promise of a resurrection to paradise earth when no resident will say, I am sick ' - Isaiah 33:24 A private family service will be held at a later date. The family would like to thank all who visited her during her illness and to the staff of the Kildonan Personal Care Home for their compassionate care. Condolences & Memories (1 entries)

  • My children remember Dorothy and Alex and their "rocks". When we visited Winnipeg they would go visit and get some rocks to bring home. I had heard from Mildred that Dorothy was in a nursing home and glad she is at peace now.
